Whoops actually nine geniuses. I changed it!
Leroy Arvengton, the oldest son of a very rich family, showed his intelligence by graduating high school when he was ten.
Just when he has his sights set on college, his parents suddenly die in an accident. Leroy is ripped away from his familiar life and shipped to a secretive school called Eximus on a mysterious island.
Leroy learns that the school is made up of ten geniuses, himself included, and that the goal of each of them is to prove that they are the best of the crop through a series of tests. If they succeed, the president of the school promises them a tempting prize. If they lose, they will be eliminated…whatever that means.
Yes, that was copy/paste hehe. It’s still technically kind of a WIP because I haven’t settled on a title yet. @madelyn can you repeat some of the titles you suggested yesterday?
Thanks for the book shout-out (The Journal Is Important)! I hope you enjoy my series. Have you read the last one yet, The Rookie Has A Mission? I haven’t even ordered my author copy yet. I’ll do that…eventually…
By the way, the journal is important. Somewhat. Just wanted to let you know. Just in case the title made it unclear. XD
That sounds like a scary situation! Since I first published this post, Clyde has since plummeted toward the ground far below (and technically, he’s still plummeting since I haven’t written past that).

I tagged “Gollum” in my reply to this post; I guess that’s why it’s showing up!
February 5, 2021 at 5:17 pm in reply to: You get to go out for lunch with your main character of choice: How would it go? #91589I get an email from a person who is interested in reading more of my books and wants to become my agent. Oddly enough, the person signs off as “MULLOG”. Odder still, I actually go and meet this person I don’t know for lunch.
The person insists that we eat at a place that primarily serves raw food, mostly fish. As I wait at a table, I slowly become aware that there is some kind of commotion going on outside of the restaurant. I race outside to see that (oh, how did I not see this coming) Gollum is there, lashing out at a crowd of frightened pedestrians (probably their long, blond hair reminds him of something).
I hurry him into the restaurant, where he insists that I pay for the meal and promptly orders two meals that consist of fish. When the waitress asks if he has a preference on what kind of fish, he replies, “Just make it extra juicy sweet, my precious!”
He, of course, is not interested in my books and immediately leaves after eating both of our meals, forcing me to pick up the check. There goes fifty dollars of camera money.

This is such a cool idea! I have self-published my first book this year on Amazon. It’s a children’s book targeted to ages 9-12 called Memory Lane Was Moved. Here is the description:
When eleven-year-old Travis wakes up in a strange room with no memory, he embarks on an adventure of a lifetime. Teaming up with Sadie and her older brother Robert, Travis uncovers his past with surprising results. He encounters Larry, a mysterious man who appears to have known Travis before, and Lewis, an undersized fourteen-year-old who gets swept along into the adventure, as well. Soon, Travis discovers that this whole thing is much bigger than he had at first realized. An elusive company called SCAM has been planning to release a product into the world that could jeopardize the nation’s security: a product known only as HANDSHAKE. Travis and his friends must work together to stop that product from being released before it is too late. This is Book One in the Memory Lane Series.
It is available as both a paperback and e-book. I would like an honest review of it for those who have already gotten it, but you don’t need to. Thank you!
@r-m-archer You have a cool name! It sounds so famous author-y!Sure, that would be great!! Though, I would rather not post my email on a public forum if that’s the way to get it.
Is Freddy and Friends your book?
That is so encouraging! I love it when I hear that people got my book! Last I checked, I’m not meeting my download goal today😥
@morwen I hope you like it!
@michelle That’s great! Thanks!
First of all, cool profile picture! Spider-Man is the best!
Second, you aren’t Team Captain America😱?? Noooo!! Actually, in the last movie, I felt so let down that he was an old man. It didn’t seem right. Captain America can never be an old man! It is weird he went to live in another time, but I am kind of glad because he really didn’t belong in this time anyway. I just wish we could get another movie of him in the WW2 time!

August 14, 2020 at 11:16 pm in reply to: What piece of writing advice changed the way you write the most? #84234Probably not using too many “…”s. I used those a LOT when I was writing a book based off my favorite television series (I basically wrote down almost everything they said, but they paused a lot, and I had a hard time ignoring those pauses in my writing).
Also, if you just write down your story, really following the train of your thought and not being too picky (basically mind mapping), you can come up with a really natural story. If you are too picky, the story can sound stiff. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule.
August 14, 2020 at 7:47 pm in reply to: If you could be a student of any Author, who would it be? #84231I’d say either J.R.R. Tolkien, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, or Andrew Clements. Oh, or Beverly Cleary (who, surprisingly, I think is still alive). She is in her hundreds.
@kathleenramm, I’ve just been listening to the Narnia radio dramas by Focus on the Family again! They are so well done! -
