My disappointment at no fire is best summed up with a quote from a favorite TV show:
(a character) Please tell me we’re blowing something up.
(the other character) Sorry [the first one’s name], this is strictly a stealth mission.
(first character) Aaaagh, I hate that word!!
So at least we’re not going on a stealth mission rather than setting…[Read more]

Abigail.M. started the topic Urgent Prayer Request in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 4 months ago
Hello everyone,
Right now I have a very urgent request for prayer. If you could pray for my grandfather. His prognosis is extremely poor. I won’t go into details, but it is critical. But far far more important than his survival even, is his salvation. So if you all could pray for his salvation. It is so uncertain that it devastates me. If you…[Read more]

Ah yes, right on cue for me today, wanting to write a whole novel with nothing but an idea for the villain. I can feel the general vibe of the thing. I heard a song lyric today that I want to incorporate into the plot. I know nothing else.
I think generally I’ll feel for how long the work will be, like a short story, novella, or novel,…[Read more]

Wow, that poem sounds like a modern psalm! Like others have said, I think writing it with a specific pattern of syllables might help, but other than that I’m not a big poet, so I can’t really help much. I like it though! It’s awesome!

Very interesting! I don’t think it’s cliche at all, but the fanfics I make with my brother are sometimes cliched on purpose, so I’m not sure if I’d know…

Keilah H. replied to the topic What Kind of Writing do You Excel at? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 5 months ago
I write fanfiction, mostly. I’m not the best with original plots, but I make original characters and sidestory fanfics to go with them like crazy. My brother is better at creating villain groups, cool weapons, and that sort of thing than I am. But I like writing little picture books (5 published already), and I’ve done a few essays.
Also,…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic Do your characters tend to be more extraverted or introverted? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 5 months ago
@kathleenramm I feel like I usually plan for characters to be a little more reserved but they end up being more extraverted to keep the story moving along and the scene interesting, haha. I always need a bit more dialogue.

This sounds cool!
Okay so the three things I really liked about this are #1 the whole circus/murder mystery #2 the fact we’ll be getting into the past of a circus #3 they have high stakes at risk.
The three questions I have would be #1 why are Ara and November, in particular, being targeted #2 what are they doing in the circus…[Read more]

@not-so-secret-secret-assassain
1st of all, your Forum Topic Into was almost as fun to read as the chapters… I guess that explains why I haven’t heard from Shakespeare lately.
2nd of all.
I’m sorry.
Eh, not for the late replay as much as I am for not reading this sooner. Don’t get me wrong, as much as I’d love to bash a video game-themed…[Read more]

I don’t have a blog so I have no idea how to do that sort of thing…Sorry! I look forward to seeing what everyone else says, though, because I might open one someday if my books are really successful.

Keilah H. replied to the topic Do you Prefer Classical or Modern Literature? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 5 months ago
@kathleenramm That’s hard. I’ve barely read any classics besides Narnia (which I liked) and Lord of the Rings (which I enjoyed, but I’m not super crazy about it like some people). Apart from those, the oldest stuff I’ve read has been a dystopia or two, The Raven (as an audio) and Much Ado about Nothing, which so far has been hilarious. But at th…[Read more]

@lydia-s Nice, nice! I’m quite in love with Steinbeck and Dostoyvesky, throw in some Ray Bradbury and Dickens here and there, and there are so many more titles I’ve been meaning to read. Your literature program sounds fun! I’ve been meaning to take one at some point, haha.

Keilah H. replied to the topic I'm giving you permission to rant about your WIP in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 5 months ago
@elishavet-pidyon I know. Feather and Reed totally didn’t deserve what happened to them, but still….I mean, it was already written out for them because they were both from fanfics, and although they were both OCs they were closely linked to the original stories (they came from two separate ones).

Keilah H. replied to the topic How do you draft/write the "first" document? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 5 months ago
@godlyfantasy12 Depends. Sometimes I have an idea of where it’s going to go, but sometimes I just have a scene that’s somewhere in the middle, or even the ending. Other times I have no clue what I’m doing and just tell the story. I also make up a ton of stuff with my brother, so he offers his input too.

Lin replied to the topic How do you draft/write the "first" document? in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 5 months ago
@godlyfantasy12 Usually I write a beginning, and then I start working on an outline/plot/characters, and usually after I have the outline for all the chapters done, or most of them, enough to keep me busy for a while, I just starting writing each chapter one by one.

Lin replied to the topic Do you Prefer Classical or Modern Literature? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
@kathleenramm These days I can consume nothing but classic lit. I think when I was younger I found it boring but now I find modern lit lacking in depth and character and theme. Still, I prefer literature from the 1800’s and 1900’s, and maybe occasionally the 1700’s. Anything earlier I find, well, hard to read.
