Mary G started the topic 1st Chapter Critique for The Inventor’s Daughter in the forum Novel Critique Requests 3 years, 2 months ago
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading the first chapter of The Inventor’s Daughter! This is my first time asking for a critique so it’s pretty exciting! Let me know and I can share it by email. I would like it to be read before Friday afternoon if not that’s ok!
God bless!

Thanks for your thoughts!
First person peripheral? I actually did consider that for this story. That’s when the narrator is not the main character, like in The Great Gatsby?
I think I may just have to experiment and see which one works best. Because I can see how great it would be for the…[Read more]

Yes I’m on Story Embers! Same name. KP seems to be more active, so I thought I’d join.
The Emperor’s New Groove is a pure delight. I’d heard it was super good, and I was not disappointed.

Daisy Torres started the topic The Art of Deception–Sci-fi critique in the forum Book Discussions 3 years, 2 months ago
Hello, KeePers!!
I just recently finished the first draft of The Art of Deception, which is a clean sci-fi. No bad words, fairly mild violence.
That being said, I’m looking for readers who are willing to read through a messy first draft and pinpoint spelling errors, plot holes, things that don’t make sense, etc. Any feedback/thoughts are needed…[Read more]

I was the exact same with classics. I used to think that the only reason why people liked them was because they were labeled “classic” so that somehow justified the dull writing.
But now, a lot of modern books that I’ve recently read felt so shallow, empty, and boring. And the classical books I used to roll my eyes out I now…[Read more]

@gracie-j Bahaha Okay but creative freedom can come from not worrying about overused plotlines so maybe it’s actually a gem in disguise XD Ooo those colors sound lovely! I think I know the aesthetic you’re going for. And yes, the blurb would be awesome as soon as you can dig it up, please!
@devastate-lasting Okay!! Could you send me a…[Read more]

You are a brilliant person, Lin XD (And OMAM is SOOOOO SAD)
Uummm, ya that makes sense. (Although they are historical and fiction but that’s besides the point, I know what you mean lol) Let’s see, yeah Chains is prolly my actual favorite, and the Girl in the Blue Coat is good too. Jennifer A. Nielsen’s his-fic books are good too.

My two cents for this topic… actually, more like twenty bucks. This is a long post, so warning XD
Writer’s block happens to everyone. Literally everyone. If you don’t get writer’s block, in my opinion, then you’re not a writer. Either that or you’re a freaking living legend. I read an interview with Christopher Paul Curtis once (he wrote Bud,…[Read more]
