Lin replied to the topic Have you ever fallen out of love with writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 1 month ago
@kathleenramm Ah, I’ve heard that the best stories are all written by people who’ve suffered. So, well, I guess when we’re going through trials, we can see it as something good for our writing.
Me… I’ve had times where I didn’t write, usually burnout. But never really fallen out of love with it, like I do with piano. I mean, maybe there have…[Read more]

Wait so we can share our other POV character’s first lines? I’m in!
This is November’s
“Ara?”
“You okay?” (Omit) “Why are you barefoot?”
”Sounds like fun!”
and Jocelyn’s
“Hello one and all!”
”Ready boy?” (Omit) “Well then, let’s give them a show they won’t forget!
“Sorry!”

“Thorne, we came to talk.” Lyn called out, standing on her tiptoes, as if that would help her voice carry. A muffled reply proceeded from the back. She groaned, walking to the entrance of the other room and motioning for the others to follow, which they did.
November glanced back once more at the knife sticking from the wood.
As the two…

@faith-q honestly I’m not a great artist, but the others have given good advice. There’s also a website (and a free version) called Inkarnate and it is awesome, but I still have yet to make a map Of Cirque and A’Grend I’m really proud of.

@keilah-h I write fantasy!! Tho I’m still in my first draft there’s one scene I sorta like (at least the idea of it) that’s a bit Action-y
(Tho it begins at the end of one POV Chapter and finishes in another)
Arabella’s POV
“She said to take care of you myself.”
“She?” Ara whispered, wondering what he meant. But Arabella didn’t have tim…

@keilah-h Thanks for the tag! Yeah, most of the time I do fantasy. Nice scene! Very dramatic indeed.
*thinks for a very long time* Yeah, I really don’t remember or know what scenes I write are dramatic… Here’s a prologue from a short story that I’m working on, though:
“If you don’t tell me the information, lady, I’m afraid I’m going to have to…

@faith-q Well, I’ve handdrawn really bad maps before…just to get an idea of what direction my characters are going. But yeah, there are online map-makers that you can use.

@e-k-seaver I honestly don’t have much or any experience with writing or reading Christian fiction, so I honestly can’t be of much help, besides giving you, like, y’know, a regular reader’s perspective. You have my email already, so if you want to send it to me, I’d be happy to give it a read.

So I guess, every writer is going to be different. For some people pushing through is what helps them. This use to help me, but well, it didn’t help this last…[Read more]

Oooo this is SUCH a fun idea!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! And I LOVE Dylan’s dialogue. The first one was just kinda funny without the story’s context. XD It was awesome!!!!!
So my MC is a sixteen-year-old girl named Layla. I just started this new story, so I don’t know a lot about her yet, but from what I can tell she’s stubborn, competitive, and…[Read more]

@nova21 AHHH I LOVE THIS!!
Okay, since my book actually starts off with a prologue from the antagonist’s POV, I’m gonna put her first three lines and my MC’s (That takes place in Chapter 1 at a totally different place and time)
Corvina-
“Master? (Omit) Master?”
“Yes Master.”
“Ah!”

@nova21 XD Plenty of adventures to choose from!
I love your lines as well! Dylan sounds like he’d be quite hard to work with.
@writerlexi1216 Felicity sounds like what you described her as. Nice job!
@daisy-torres I’d want to be Catherine’s friend!
@lewilliams I want to meet Horace, like, right now. He sounds so proper.
