A dry laugh escaped Bryce before he could stop it. “I got a lot of things to figure out, and most of it is really boring.”
His eyes surveyed the plethora of books around them. He had so many resources to search through, about so much stuff he did not care about.
And if he were there to study and disect the subject that brought him a great passion, the undercover-prince mission might be more enjoyable. Alas, it was one of those topics that H.O.M.E society did not view as very important. Unless it helped complete their main goals.
Bryce eyed Tavar. This guy seemed to be one who would know something about it. For one moment, he decided to not mind that asking a question, although it felt very off track. “Do you know anything about neurological science?”

Unfortunately, the pot I ordered initially was too damaged to use so I have to get another.
That is unfortunate 😵💫 Do you have any other plants? If I may ask lol. I grew zinnias this summer, and tomato vines.
I successfully killed a succulent😶🌫️I’m not great with indoor plants, apparently.Tavar will naturally need to be into gardening/herbology.

As interesting as it was to have someone understand his problem, Bryce found it unsettling how Tavar… well, “sensed” it.

AHH. I love miniature roses. They are everywhere where I live.
That kinda reminds me of how I obtained a new hyperfixiaton with fencing, and now one of my MC’s is in danger of getting a new hobby hehe.

“No, thanks.” Bryce crumpled the wrapped in his fist. He sat back comfortably in the chair, focus returning. Tavar. The last name had already escaped his mind.
“I’m Bryce Callan.” Maybe his attention was coming back, but not enough to be the least bit formal. “And thanks for making the librarian go away.”
He gave Tavar a faint smile, but his question began to press harder. Was his need for a snack really so obvious? If so, it might become an issue in particular circumstances.

Bryce stared at the boy’s hand a moment, hardly catching on. He shook his hand, nodding. “Yeah, I got another one,” he shrugged. Bryce then shoved his shaking hand in his pocket. Was it that obvious? And how did this prince know?
“Well, I’ll head over there,” he said, almost questioningly, securing the stack of books under his arm. Bryce turned and scanned for the window, then headed there with an dreamy lightheadedness and thumping heart.
He located the chair and set his stack of books down. As soon as he sat down, he only wanted to fall over into a heavy sleep. “Nope,” he mumbled, taking his second Rice Krispy out of his pocket. This one made him frown, as the wrapper had a handwritten note on it.
Here’s your emergency Rice Krispy! Enjoy skyrocketing to 300 or something – Lisse
There was nothing left that gave him willpower to react to the note. Bryce tore the snack open and shoved it in his mouth.

Bryce stared after the librarian, blinking stupidly. His eyes shifted back to boy, who had practically saved him from the loud, distractable woman. “Thanks,” he said with a quick nod. The fast gesture brought regret when a dizzy shadow played in his peripheral view. As much as Bryce needed to leave, he kept his feet planted on the ground. An abrupt flight from the library -or stumbling from a daze- would not help in keeping the friendly-prince role he was supposed to play.

Bryce jumped back, getting a better grip on the books before they could clatter to the floor. Still, words took time to register. Bryce blinked. The librarian reminded him of an infuriated squirrel.
Five seconds later, he noticed that she had his Rice Krispy. “Sorry…” he said, his voice blank. The only thing he could wonder is if he would get his Rice Krispy back. If not, he would simply choose between his extra Rice Krispy or a piece of peppermint candy, which he would eat well out of the view of this librarian.

Bryce nodded his head, failing to conceal the smallest frown that came over his face. “Alright, thanks.”
He turned away, leaving to retrieve his stack of books. On his way, he attempted to relist the instructions under his breath. Every thought turned into a puzzle. “Write my name… The return date… Wait, no.”
As Bryce picked up the books, tiny flecks popped in his vision. Finally, one thought registered, and he remembered his battery-void pump. I need a snack!
Shifting the books to one arm, Bryce used his free hand to once again fish through his pocket. He got ahold of something small and crinkly. Rice Krispy. As he took it out of his pocket and attempted to tear it with one hand, Bryce silently cringed. It was like the plastic decided to be as loud as possible while opening in the library.
A statement from one of his friends came to mind. You’d make a terrible secret assassin.

Bryce followed Jack’s gesture, spotting the fellow he was referring to. “Oh, yeah,” he murmured. “He does look like the type, I guess…”
As Bryce approached, he realized his heart had not stopped racing either. And it still took great effort to catch his breath, yet he wasn’t exactly one to be nervous. He halted in front of the young man, maintaining a friendly appearance. It seemed so unnatural not flashing a badge in someone’s face in order to ask them questions, but maybe it would be a good change. “Sorry to bother you,” Bryce said, planning to get right to his point. “Happen to know the rules for taking books in and out of the library? Or, have you seen a librarian anywhere to ask?”

Bryce nodded in acknowledgement as he turned on his heel to walk away. He located books that were far from the fictional genre, and Bryce began pulling them off the shelf and skimming. The words of every page he glanced upon sifted through his mind in mere seconds. It took far less than a minute before he decided a book wasn’t worth his time, and he would shove it back onto the shelf, moving on to the next.
He tried to move slowly, acting as casual as he could. It would be rather awkward if anyone caught sight of him roving from volume to volume, especially when he wasn’t taking a single moment to study anything. Bryce finally compiled a stack of books that he found valuable, dropping them on a nearby desk which he planned on coming back to in a moment. Next, he went back to find Jack. He felt oddly out of breath by the time he reached the boy.
“Do you know if we’re aloud to take books out of here?” Bryce asked, “And how many, exactly?”

Hmmm I’m still trying to think of how they can meet Tavar… I can’t picture Bryce just walking up to him at this point, but I want them to interact XD

Oooh! My character and one of Loopy’s are the ones in the library rn. Maybe he could run into ours at some point if you wanted to have that happen XD. And if that sounds okay with @loopylin.
