Alexa Autorski replied to the topic What writing goals do you want to have achieved by this time next year? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 3 months ago
I really only have one major writing goal (even if that’s the only thing I achieve with writing, then I’ll be happy), and that’s finishing my novel. I’ve been writing on this novel for a looooooong time, so if I can have it completely finished/edited/ready to be sent to a publisher by this time next year, I’d be over the moon ^-^…[Read more]

Well, mostly things like “Is there an official title for a king’s advisor?” or “Where does the king hold official meetings?” or even things like “How young can a king be to rule without a regent?” My villain is still young (sort of—he’s around 17ish), since he was forced to take the throne after his parents were killed. I didn’t…[Read more]

Ah, villainy! *evil laughter* *lightning flashes in the background*
Yeah, writing in the perspective of your villain is challenging, because while he is the villain, he deserves sympathy. I do plan on writing some of the story in his POV, because he actually has quite an in-depth storyline that I want to share. I probably won’t have a…[Read more]

So sorry for not responding! I’ve been a little busy. Anyways, I actually haven’t read Prince Caspian yet (but I’ve heard good things about it, and definitely will!) I’m in the middle of The Horse and His Boy, and that’s been incredible! I’m such a fan of Narnia…
Oooh, a hamster with a cape? *heart eyes* That’s super cool! XD

Oooh, fantastic idea! I’m just gonna respond to everything…
1. Caira. Hands down.
2. Newton, since he already holds a grudge
3. Alana, maybe? She’s already wacky and weird and random
4. I want to say Angelina (*I still don’t know what her name is* but she’s my villain’s sister). I could totally see her being a nomad someday
5. Eithe…[Read more] -

WHOA, you go, girl! That’s incredible! My current word count is approximately 17,000 words, but I’ve been writing pretty quickly, so it’s moving along. I’m actually introducing my villain now! *evil laughter* *strokes mustache evilly* (I’m also having to research a TON about royalty and various royal titles because my antagonist is the…[Read more]

I really enjoy it! I mean, I’ve only had the opportunity to read ‘The Magician’s Nephew’ and ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ fully, and am currently on ‘The Horse and His Boy’, which has been neat! The only problem I have with Narnia is that I can’t live there XD
Oh, neat! I’ve been writing a long time, too 🙂
First of all,…[Read more] -

Ah, I’d love to say that I’ve written thousands of words and figured out huge plot holes of my book, but unfortunately, the only thing I’ve been accomplishing lately is editing old chapters (which isn’t a bad thing, I guess). I’m not entirely sure where I wanna go with the plot right now, so I’m testing out some things… Fingers…[Read more]

Hello, new writing friend! ‘Tis a pleasure to meet you! Oh, do you like coffee? You see, I’m a huge fan of coffee, so anytime I meet somebody new, I offer them a cup *pours coffee into mug and offers*
Wow, your book sounds absolutely, positively incredible! And your summary was a whole lot better than mine would sound if I attempted…[Read more]

Thank you for sharing your expertise! This is quite a helpful topic 😀
So, I don’t have quite a hate-to-love romance, but I have something close. I raise you the situation my poor characters are in:
Tin (who is a brand-new queen) and Rand are about to get married (for strictly royal/political alliance reasons)
Rand, who has Not Been…[Read more]

@kathleenramm This is such a neat topic!!! I’ve loved looking through everyone’s posts and seeing what people are reading. Unfortunately, I don’t read a ton these days (I blame that #EnglishMajorLife), though I have started listening to audiobooks more these days. (Side note, but every time I see the title of this topic, my mind sings, “What makes a monster, and what makes a man?” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, so that’s been an interesting phenomenon. :P)
@devastate-lasting Oh nice! Not too many people have heard of him in my experience. They’re really some delightful games, IMO.

Oooh, I like that test too! I think I’m an INFP… something along those lines.
Occasionally, I’ll take the test as one of my fictional characters. That’s interesting sometimes 😀

Alexa Autorski replied to the topic Favorite Character in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
Hmm… this one is tough, because I fall in love with all of my characters and would probably bore everyone to death if I went through all of them. So I’ll just stay with the ones I know best 🙂
I think the trophy for ‘Best Character’ would have to go to the heroine of my current fantasy WIP, Caira. I like Caira for many different reasons, but m…[Read more]

@gracie-j Hmm, I’m going to have to ponder that one! I don’t read a ton of mysteries, nor do I write them (except for that one time I tried and consequently Gave Up™). However, I have started playing through the Professor Layton video game series with my husband, and based on that… I would have to say the interweaving of seemingly unrelated…[Read more]

Elizabeth replied to the topic What is a popular book that you dislike? Why do you dislike it? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 3 months ago
@kathleenramm This is such an interesting topic! I’ve been wracking my brain for a good, concrete answer, but instead all I can come up with is this:
*vague gesture at most of the popular YA books I’ve read*
*vague gesture at almost every single book I’ve read in my English classes*
To elaborate on the second one, I especially disliked the…[Read more]
