Oh, goodness, I am very late… Welcome to the KP forum, Mary!
Ah, the wonderful C.S. Lewis… I’m a major fan of his as well. Have you read Til We Have Faces? I have yet to read any of his other adult/YA books. I’d love to try is Space Trilogy someday though.
I’m not sure what questions have already been asked (I suppose that is one of…[Read more]

Well, I am unfortunately quite late, but welcome to the KP forum!
Wonderful genre choice! I’d love to attempt writing sci-fi someday; what do you enjoy most about it? And congrats on finishing a novel!!! It takes a lot of work and determination to get to that point.
Here are a couple questions, if you’d like to answer them:
1) What…[Read more]

Agh, I am very late… *facepalm* But welcome to the KP forum, Precious!
Those are awesome genres! I have yet to dig deeply into sci-fi, but I’d love to do that someday. Contemporary is really fun to write. 😀
I’m guessing most of my favorite questions have already been asked, so I guess I’ll just ask my absolute favorite. 😉
Who…[Read more]

you’re welcome!! 🙂
I totally understand what you mean; I do that so often, which is why it’s lovely to have several very different people in my book so one can ramble, one play devil’s advocate, and the other one, who’s the quiet rough one, can end any stupidity happening in the disagreement. XD

haha, thanks! I guess she’s based on yours truly *bows, then hesitates, evaluates character, and wonders if I actually paid myself a compliment or not… *
First of all… I LOVE the name Keaton! second, his dialogue seems to fit. I suppose just keep his lines short, don’t have him using too many please n’ thank you’s and keep…[Read more]

Been there. A lot.
I agree with all these fine folks!
I will break up my advice:
1: I’d say don’t try too hard on things. If you’re finding it hard, write what you can, and don’t push so hard you’re on the edge of tears (personal admonishment for myself right now XD), but as Elizabeth said, refill!!! I love writing, but at…[Read more]

Thank you! it took me a year and a half to decide! lol
Well, I must say my inspiration was partly from a Griffin clan keychain pendant I was given two years ago. One side of my family two generations back has that last name. 🙂 That triggered the story being started as well as the story of the MC (main character), but the actual world…[Read more]

haha!! Great idea!! And I’d say your MCs dialogue fits.
My sci fi book MC is shy in big groups but stubborn and has her opinions and likes to bug her brother
her first three lines in the story:
(Omits action) Alden, stop it! I hit in here five minutes ago!”
(Omits action) “Good morning. I didn’t burn the house down so that’s encouragi…

The title says it all, folks. I just thought it might be fun to compare what your character says to see if the dialogue truly matches their personality or not.
So I’ll share mine first!
MC is Dylan, who is stubborn, quiet, and strong-willed. A little self-protective. Lmk if his dialogue fits his personality.

This is ALL too relatable, Lexi! The way I usually (try) to overcome writer’s block/burnout is picking up a different project. I have *counts Scrivener docs* 25 WIPs from the last 2 yrs. Not that they’re perfect. (Or finished.)
This way really helps me to take a step back and pick a project that I’ve been developing pre…[Read more]

LoTR is my favourite book to read and I’ve listened through it several times too! Cool that you listen through it too! I have the unabridged audiobook copy narrated by Rob Inglis. I can fall asleep listening to that book now lol
