@kate-flournoy aww I was hoping that the teleportation would work. Would save me a lot of transport fare.
@Daeus just like regular shipping I guess but I’m doing it on the forum, so that’s the difference? Oh well…(by the way how do you insert emojis other than the typical smiley/sad faces? Like the cool sunglasses face for example.)

Yesss it’s so cute!!!! Her dialogue is hilarious. I was also quite astounded at the professional use of speaker tags. Some writers haven’t got that perfected yet!
(By the way @Daeus and @Kate-Flournoy am I allowed to forum ship the two of you? Yeah I know it’s silly but honestly the way you two go on here…oh well never mind. My inner…[Read more]

Hey guys~~
My seven year old sister recently got into the hobby of writing stories, and they are absolutely hilarious. So I just thought it’d be fun to share something she just wrote. (Shh, don’t tell her I’m showing this to you all)
How the Tamer Hid the Poor Girl
Once upon a time there was a rich girl (her name was Light). She had alot…[Read more]

@Kate-Flournoy OH. MY. GOODNESS. Lord of the Flies is AMAZING. It’s one of my favourites yes yes woohoo now I’m getting too excited because I love this book so much. It’s amazing. It’s one of those books that makes me stare at the page and wonder how the author can convey such strong feeling just by words. And in addition, when I had finished…[Read more]

School. How to balance the eight plus hours of school with writing? I’ve read that you should write for two hours a day, but I just can’t seem to find that kind of time.
And also, how do you continue to write short stories and stuff like that when you have a larger novel project looming along?

The Happy Bookaholic replied to the topic How fast do you read? in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 8 months ago
Oh, but my older brother and one younger sister read at the speed of lightning. But it makes me annoyed because they don’t appreciate the writing at all. Once I quizzed my sister about a book she had just finished and she couldn’t answer a lot of the questions. It made me so mad. I read slightly slower but at least I pick up on the points.

Is reading The Lord of the Rings in around two weeks (less, definitely, in stints and long runs) fast? I don’t know. Everyone says I read quickly and when I took the speed reading test I could do 800 to 1000 words per minute and still understand the story. But sometimes I feel that I just want to soak the words up, and in that case I’ll take a…[Read more]

I live in the best country: Singapore. It’s so small that it doesn’t have any states or cities, and I’m extremely patriotic about it. Come on, we made it from third world to first in less than fifty years! How many countries can boast that?
Unfortunately America is at the other side of the world, plus from what I’ve heard in news it’s crumbling…[Read more]

Also, hi there, Lightning Mouse spelt correctly. Though you might want to get another alias since people seem to have strange trouble spelling Lightning. I like eating.

Hey you helpful wonderful guys out there on the Internet!
Let’s start this off with some backstory. This year I have two writing goals. I’ve failed the first already (that was an attempt to write ‘something’ every day) but here’s the second: I’ve determined to complete one short story every two months. And yes, my Jan-Feb short story has been…[Read more]

Hey Anna! Welcome to the forum! Haha you’re probably the nearest person in proximity to me who’s on this forum, considering that Australia’s ‘close’ in relation to Singapore as compared to America. Drop by if you can, will you? 😉
Don’t worry about the writing. We’ll all improve slowly.

Yes hello @kate-flournoy I heard my name?
Oh, that. Yeah, you’re right although the passive voice you’re using there doesn’t sound very nice. “If you’re going to shrink the font” is so much more understandable.
Grammar lesson aside…I like Number One. Numero Uno for a Singaporean trying to learn Spanish, but that’s a side note. But I really…[Read more]
