I’m really loving the mystery/thriller aspects of my novel, which I’m always trying to weave in to all my other plots, haha! I’m also loving my MC, Hope’s, personality. I’m bouncing back and forth between three (?) *counts on fingers* –no, four WIPs (
which is probably too many, but it’s whatever 😆). Whenever I lose interest in…[Read more] -

Hey Lydia! Welcome to KP, it’s so awesome to have you here!! Ooo, I always wanted to do 4H when I was little, I wish I would’ve done it! And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE horses!!!!!! ❤ When I was ten, I was a horse nerd. Like, it wasn’t even funny. I could tell you what a horses favorite mineral was, or what the Clydesdale preferred to eat fo…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Hmm…I’m currently working on maybe four or five things. I’ll just say the ones I’m most excited for.
For the one I’m drafting I can’t wait to get to the interactions with the villains. It’s going to be excellent.
For the one I’m plotting I can’t wait to start writing it. I’m looking forward to it a lot, since I’ve been planning…[Read more]

@lydia-s Crime is very interesting because it allows me to explore the motivations of a sinner while also delivering poetic justice to them at the end. I enjoy conflict like this, so I very much enjoy writing it.
Ey, I went to go watch both Jesus and Sampson in theatres! I do love Sight and Sound. I hope that I can watch Esther sometime too!…[Read more]

And everything you wrote from “of course” to “fantastic” just about made me cry. I mean it means so much to me…[Read more]

Exactly! I’ll feel like I’m abandoning them:,( Thank goodness for the concept of sequels and prequels, but after that, I have no idea what I’ll do… Well, obviously I’ll work on other novels, but yeah, a writer’s first characters will always have a reserved place in their heart:)
Name finding is so much fun, I usually keep a f…[Read more] -
Abigail.M. replied to the topic What's your process of creating a main character for your story? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years ago
What are the sort of questions I ask during interviews? Dangerous question there XD I may write a long post, but let me think..
Just about anything I can think of:) Usually, I start with questions about their relationships with the characters around whether it’s a friend, enemy, or just a passer-by.
Then I ask things like how did…[Read more] -

Okay, first of all, I love this idea!!:D (And I know I should save this for later in the post but… it’s Newton?? 😀 OH MY GOODNESS, YES, THAT’S SO BEAUTIFUL!!! But I’ll get back to that in a moment:)
So I’m not sure if my thoughts on it are a lot different than everyone else awesome advice:)

@lydia-s Hi there! I’m Linyang, though most here just call me Lin. Welcome to the Kingdom!
Oo, those genres are great! I’m into writing fantasy, crime, and contemporary. I believe we have a couple historical fiction and biblical fiction authors here, so I think you’ll fit right in!
Ah, some questions for ya.
1. Favorite movies?
2. Favorite…[Read more]

@joelle-stone Hi there! I believe I’ve seen you on SE before, though I’m not that active anymore there. Lovely to make your acquaintance!
1. Lists are life
2. I also write fantasy! As well as crime and slice of life.
3. Your pfp looks really cool! If you ever come up with a blurb, I’d love to hear it!
4. And I use “…” way too much.
5. I…[Read more]

Elizabeth replied to the topic What's your process of creating a main character for your story? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years ago
@kathleenramm Hmm, well I haven’t created a main character in quite a long while, so I’m honestly a bit unsure what my process is at this point. Side characters, however, usually start with a concept or image that usually comes to me in the midst of writing. For example, I’ve created:
- An overly apologetic butler to a supervillain
- An o…

Am I having this exact same debate with myself about my own dear WIP? Yes. Yes I am*ahem* I think that’s a really cool idea! And I agree with everyone else that’s already commented–I think it’s perfectly okay to include the Bible in a fantasy world!! Like @issawriter7 said, you can always avoid mentioning specific names if…[Read more]

Well, maybe somehow your fictional world is connected to other worlds, including our reality, so that it sometimes is exposed to the cultures of other worlds? Then that would explain being able to have the Bible with real people and events in your fictional world. Or maybe you make it more of an allegory with characters that…[Read more]

@writerlexi1216 I’d just typed out a whole answer to this and the page disappeared….no matter. I shall try again.
So I myself am writing a fantasy where I have portrayed characters reading the Bible or going to devos or praying. The real world exists alongside my fantasy worlds, and since heaven and hell are also part of that world, there is…[Read more]
