Keilah H. replied to the topic How did you come up with the idea for your current WIP? in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
@faith-q I get ideas from dreams sometimes. Once when I was three or so, I had a dream that a dolphin, an orca, a shark and a turtle were caught in a net suspended over a waterfall, and a whale saved them. The next day I drew a zillion pictures telling that story (I didn’t know how to write back then).
Other times characters from my stories s…[Read more]

I’ll read it! Only problem was that when I hit “read for free” it didn’t show me the book.

Keilah H. replied to the topic Using a Pen Name: Yay or Nay? in the forum Publishing & Platform 5 years, 3 months ago
I’ve published three picture books, under my own name. I can see what everyone means with the privacy, but personally I like seeing my name on my books. In one of my fanfiction stories, however, I have a character that is technically myself. In the version of the story my brother and I think up, we use our normal names. But when I write the…[Read more]

Keilah H. replied to the topic Fantasy Kingdom Names in the forum Fantasy 5 years, 3 months ago
These names are all so cool! I usually just stick with whatever comes to mind when it comes to mind…hence why my character names are usually similar to each other or are based off someone else’s. But world names? I’m not too good at those. An idea I liked was from The Wingfeather Saga–the world is called Aerwiar, because the first human there,…[Read more]

Those sound awesome! I love making up fantasy creatures to inhabit worlds in my stories, but I don’t have too much story to go with them.

This sounds awesome! And @joy-caroline I absolutely LOVE The Wingfeather Saga! My mom bought it for me a month or so ago and I’ve already read all four (two of them twice)!

@nanisnook I know! Who’s your favorite character? I like Hunter, but I like Wrecker too–he’s pretty funny. Omega is kinda cute, she’s a good character too. Tech kind of reminds me of me, I’m tall and have glasses. Echo is just plain cool, and Crosshair…..HE’S TOTALLY EVIL. BUT STILL AWESOME.
Ugh, I am too obsessed with this. -

@Elfwing Awesome! I love it! (That’s more realistic than I can do.)

@nanisnook Yes to both of those! I LOVE the Warriors series, and yes, I love Firestar too, so every character I can get my hands on ends up being a warrior cat in my fanfictions. And FINALLY! Someone who’s at least heard of Star Wars: The Bad Batch or the characters in it! Hunter is really cool, isn’t he? I just had to draw him as a dragon because…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting Same here. Tron: Uprising is a good show, even though it only ran one 19-episode season which ended on a cliffhanger.

@devastate-lasting Yes!! Someone else who knows what I’m talking about! And yes, he is.

Digital drawing of a Star Wars character (not of my creation, although if you read the writing on the side, you’ll find out a bit about my fanfics involving him and his squad). I recently figured out how to shade on my tablet, so that’s exactly what I did with him. (And no, the reason one side of his face is dark is not my shading–it’s some…[Read more]

Yay! One of these!
I realize no one is going to know who this is, but this was a digital tracing of a picture my dad sent me. He’s from a Disney sci-fi show so obscure it only ran one season (but was actually super awesome!) Then I made him a cat from the Warriors series. He has cat ears and a tail, but they’re hard to see because he has dark…[Read more]

Nice pictures! I usually do stuff from fanfictions…..so they don’t really apply to here….I could post a few if you want though.

Keilah H. replied to the topic Teary Scenes in the forum Characters 5 years, 3 months ago
@elfwing Those are good suggestions! I’ll keep them in mind. And yes, I try to do good death scenes. They’re not that common, but I try to make it worth it when I write them.

Keilah H. replied to the topic Teary Scenes in the forum Characters 5 years, 3 months ago
Ooh! I used to NEVER put this in my stories. But more recently, I’ve started giving my characters emotions more. One scene involves a man and his 17-year-old son, who had been reunited with each other after over a decade apart in the last story. The pair have just cleared out their now-abandoned old house from the animals which had taken it over,…[Read more]

Keilah H. replied to the topic How did you come up with the idea for your current WIP? in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
I get my ideas from weird places. One day when I was twelve or so, I got the idea in my head that the Avengers should each have pet dinosaurs. No idea where that came from. Later, I was looking through the names for the dinosaurs belonging to the Guardians of the Galaxy, and I thought “hey, these could work well by themselves, not just as a Marvel…[Read more]

@daisy-torres I injure my characters a lot…..like getting both their left arm cut off and their left eye blinded in one slash….Yeah, I can’t tolerate severed human anything in real life but do all kinds of things to my characters

When a creature had been killed, their file is marked “Deceased” and put in a file by itself. But if someone were a prisoner of war or for a severe crime, the file was marked “incarcerated for extreme offense” and left where it was.
That was the label on Hunter’s file. [I spent quite a while trying to think of a last name for him–and Torrent, by…[Read more]
