ok, I want to ask this very random question…
I am odd in the fact that I can take a book that bores my friends to death because it’s too longwinded or not well executed in writing, and still enjoy it because I can fill in the problems?
This is great for enjoying a book, but it also can cause problems because now when I read anything, I fill in…[Read more] -

@scripter-of-kingdoms That’s all right. I LOVE dragons and reptiles, but not everyone does. Although I do agree, the first Wings of Fire books were good. I don’t like the newer ones as much (until they added a dragon who can talk to humans), but I enjoyed the first five.

@nanisnook I know you might enjoy a Wings of Fire/The Bad Batch combination….
@scripter-of-kingdoms Do you like dragons and that kind of thing?

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you much about the one story since I’m still hammering out details myself (for every story idea I get, I get a thousand different plotlines for it), but the one character who’s being told he’s the Chosen One turns out not to be the Chosen One at all, the villain is masquerading as a good guy, and…[Read more]

Daisy Torres replied to the topic What's the harshest critique you've ever received about your writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 7 months ago
@kathleenramm Ouchh, that would hurt. I’m glad it helped you though!
One of the harshest critiques I ever received was when someone asked me why all of my main characters act the same. I was pretty new at actually creating characters at the time and was just starting to realize that characters need–What’s the word I’m looking for? Oh…[Read more]

That’s totally true. I would feel so bad if I forgot something! Thanks for the advice!!
Yes, I have definitely been noticing that KP is good at that…. I hadn’t even thought about a lopsided draft, so that’s super good to remember. And thanks for the advice about the word count! Very helpful…[Read more]

@scripter-of-kingdoms Ha, I haven’t tried crossovers yet! I should! It might mean total annihilation of a lot of things, including my sanity (which I don’t have a lot of anyway) but it might be fun!

@scripter-of-kingdoms That’s a cool drawing! How did you know when his birthday was, is he a real person you know or a character you made up (or know a lot about)?

Hey guys! Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve been on hereÂ
because I haven’t written in forever and KP makes me guilty! This is kinda two questions in one topic, but the first one is more important haha.1. I’ve had a couple of pretty major ideas to add to my WIP (i.e., the main character’s dad died before the start of the book; a necklace t…[Read more]

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading the first chapter of The Inventor’s Daughter! This is my first time asking for a critique so it’s pretty exciting! Let me know and I can share it by email. I would like it to be read before Friday afternoon if not that’s ok!
God bless!

Did you get my reply? It seems KP ate it. Maybe it got messed up when I tried to edit it?
Wow, it seems you know a lot of history! How did you get interested in Japanese history?
Electric bass is really cool! What kinds of stuff could you play on it?
I’ve been homeschooled my whole life and started taking…[Read more]

@scripter-of-kingdoms aww! Your art style is so cute! I love the way you shaded his hoody. It’s really simple, but also very effective! Who are your favorite kpop bands? I haven’t gotten into kpop yet, but I hope to in the future 🙂

Thanks for your thoughts!
First person peripheral? I actually did consider that for this story. That’s when the narrator is not the main character, like in The Great Gatsby?
I think I may just have to experiment and see which one works best. Because I can see how great it would be for the…[Read more]

Hey Kads! That’s honestly a really cool name; how’d you come up with it?
I have around three WIPs I keep tossing around in my head and they are
1) A contemporary YA about siblings, community, and issues in the church (I’m really passionate about this story but it’s VERY hard to write). This is the story though where I…[Read more]

Awww, I’m sorry to hear that, but, hey, at least you’re WAAAY more knowledgeable about these things than me. 🙂 Oh, okay, I see. THANK YOU SO MUCH for explaining that. Have you figured anything out yet, like are you certain that’s it?Â

Kathleen replied to the topic What was it like writing your first novel? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 7 months ago
My favorite characters from ATLA would be Toph, Zuko, and Sokka.
Sokka is so much like one of my brothers it’s freaky. Even he agrees haha.
All those episodes are amazing! Every episode in Ba Sing Se is golden.
The movie is hilariously bad. Those earth benders had to do a full yoga routine to throw a pebble. XD

Kathleen replied to the topic What's a Genre or form of writing you used to dislike, but now enjoy? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 7 months ago
I was the exact same with classics. I used to think that the only reason why people liked them was because they were labeled “classic” so that somehow justified the dull writing.
But now, a lot of modern books that I’ve recently read felt so shallow, empty, and boring. And the classical books I used to roll my eyes out I now…[Read more]
