Thanks, I never knew how hard writing can be! It’s a rollercoaster…sometimes you get depressed because you can’t figure out one sentence and then you get excited because you wrote something “good”. Writing is hard….but it’s a good challenge!
That’s very true! It’s a skill that takes a lot of time to develop, taking in a l…[Read more]

That’s a cool concept! Although my sister has been playing with basically the exact same idea, although it’s more unique to bone mass then body mass as a whole, but the end effect would be similar.

I love that explanation, lol.
Okay, I’ll work on it! This critique has been so helpful! And no, it doesn’t feel too harsh. Thank you for being honest about what I need to fix. Also, I know I need to make this clearer (I don’t explain it in the story at all, just my thought process when I wrote this) but Sef and Lilitu had p…

Hi Divinity! (That’s a beautiful name by the way). I’m the Arcane Axiom, I love math, finding divine fundamental truth, and exploring that in my writing. I read/write sci-fi/fantasy, and my current project is a universe I’m working on with my sister called the Septrum.
Questions!
Do you lean towards hard or soft worldbuilding? (hard…[Read more]

Ok, I finished it, and it did mention that they were older, so it’s clear that a lot has changed, but this is still a similar issue with the one I posed earlier. We might be starting to follow the same characters now, but your darting around there own stories too much. The last we saw of Lilitu was the boy limping home, then…[Read more]

@anyone
More questions worth discussing:
How do we know that we interpret Scriptures correctly, when there’s so many different interpretations found? (This is different from a discussion of translation)
How do we discuss dilemmas that seem unique to our era and have no (seemingly) direct reference to what we see in scripture?
Anything else?

That sounds good, what you developed so far seems like a good base to start for him.
Yeah, it’s interesting to have those kind of quirks in a magic system, like the nats in Mistborn.
Divine/magic influence is always the simplest way to go. Many point out that saying “a wizard did it!” is bad, and in a certain context this is true, but…[Read more]

I like the new character you introduced in chapter 4. I don’t think you shared a chapter 7 yet, but I started chapter 6, but it seemed like there was some kind of gap, where the characters are somewhere different without explanation. Is that intentional?

I like Vilsayor, have you developed his character much in terms of things like motives and such, or is he just plain bad?
I like that you fixed the magic system to implement more even structure. That sort of thing would have driven me nuts. Though it does make me ask the question of what makes these sorts of interactions fundamental in…[Read more]

Yeah, once again though, this is the era of self publishing, so stories from indie writers from all over the planet are getting better and better access to the market, allowing a deep saturation of ideas, themes, and stories of all sorts of cultures, including African varieties. While I don’t know of many examples of African…[Read more]

No worries, we all have lives, I knew you would get around to it eventually.
Those are excellent points. Things like dragons specifically might drag on the story’s ability to distinguish from other stories (pun almost unintended🤦♂️). Dragons are a unique case I think though, they can be unoriginal, but they have a timeless…[Read more]

I like the revisal. Do you think that the Paynes of the labor camp would use names still, but perhaps only in hushed tones especially around Pythonos?
Anyway, I it is a good introduction to Ottoline’s character. An issue that I’m beginning to see now however is that it still feels like there’s no continuity of characters. Who…[Read more]

True, but being for a younger audience doesn’t make rebels not star wars cannon for example. And Cecil G. Bagsworth is in it, so while it may be purely an easter egg, I think there are ways of making it work. That being said, there are definitely some non-Cosmere books that are going to be their own thing, like Infinity Blade.

I’m sure that many have. I’ve looked into it a bit, and it seems like there’s been a lot of discussion amongst fans about it, and Sanderson has even planned on writing more books related to a multiverse like Frugal. 17th Shard simply says that it has been a common theory that poses similar evidences that I worked out and mentioned already.…[Read more]

A very different earth. North America for example is split up into islands, not a mainland, but that being said, it is still objectively an earth in history, cultures, and names, but that’s what makes the multiverse theory so compelling, especially with Frugal.

TheArcaneAxiom replied to the topic Cosmere/Brandon Sanderson in the forum Book Discussions 2 years, 7 months ago
Yeah, sorry I didn’t make that clearer😅 It would be odd for Rithmatist to be Cosmere, since it is explicitly an alternate earth, though he might of originally intended for the magic system to be used for a different planet instead, which would make sense.

TheArcaneAxiom replied to the topic Cosmere/Brandon Sanderson in the forum Book Discussions 2 years, 7 months ago
Oh, and legion also suggests the possibility of alternate realities in some discussion, where the different aspects could be real people elsewhere, but it’s half posed as a joke.

I love siblings😂
Frugal Wizard, Rithmatist, Reckoners, as well as skyward, Alcatraz, Legion, and a few others I haven’t read or considered.
What makes the theory convincing to me is the continuity of interdimensional travel, and alternate earth history. It both makes basic continuity issues dissolve, but it is itself a continuity. They…[Read more]

That is true, and I can say that his other books are still really good. I’m becoming increasingly convinced that they all exist together in a multiverse separate from the Cosmere.
