I’ve finished the LotR just a couple of days ago, and I’m happy to say that you do not have to worry about me ever disagreeing with your statement. Â XD
You’re good at naming characters?!?!?! Oh my yes! I need help!
I’ve been stuck with a character named Barrett. I very much dislike the name, (sorry to all the Barretts out there), but…[Read more]

“What’s a genre of fiction you want to write in, but haven’t yet? Why do you want to, and why haven’t you yet?”
For me, it would be science fiction. I think the genre would be really fun to write in. And the types of stories you could write in that genre are endless. The reason why I haven’t written sci-fi before is that I really want to take…[Read more]

I mean, is it possible to write a good first novel? XD
I love drawing as well! Do you ever draw illustrations for your novels?
Wow! You were six! I don’t even feel bad that you beat me. XD
Have you loved reading ever since you’ve learned? Or did it take you a while to start enjoying it?
Because although I love reading now, I…[Read more]

What made you start writing stories? How old were you when you started?
I started writing when I was either seven or eight years old when I was inspired by a story I made up while playing the board game ‘Life’.
I had my little family in the game and I named the only child Beatrice. Once I named her, a story started to form in my head. Â And I s…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic What was the premise of your first novel? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 3 months ago
Well, your first novel may have been cliche, but at least James Nixon wasn’t a poor farm boy. XD
It’s cool how in your writing today you can still see influences from your past work. But now it’s much more well put together, thought out, and more deeply developed.
What world-building elements do you still have in your fantasy…[Read more]

Manga/anime art style is so fun to draw in!
When you try to draw realistically, a lot more things can go wrong.
*Thinks about all my horribly failed sketches that haunt my dreams at night*
But I still like to sketch in both. It just depends on what drawing mood I’m in.
What do you like to photograph the most?
I like…[Read more]

Congratulation @michelle! And of course I’d love to read it!
Is this the first chapter book you’ve written, or have you written others as well?

Sounds good! I will read the doc and give you my thoughts and ideas soon!
And great job so far. This will be no easy task, but the language of the Kingdom of Pen will be created slowly but surely!

It’s cool how your characters evolved into other stories!
If I may ask, what do you mean by them being human but not exactly? That sounds very intriguing.
The current project that I’m currently writing the first draft on, I’ve been working on and off on for over four years. I think it’s safe to say I spent probably close to a…[Read more]

I’ve always had a fascination with fairy-tale retellings! Have you ever read the Lunar Chronicles? I wouldn’t say it’s the best series out there, but it was definitely the best fairy-tale retelling series that I have read.
How old were you when you wrote it?

“What was the first novel you wrote about? What made you decide to write it?”
Also, it doesn’t have to be the first novel you finished, just the first novel you started writing. My first novel, (which I didn’t actually finish), was about a girl who lived with her grandmother in a immobile mobile home. She lives a pretty simple life of caring for…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic What piece of writing advice changed the way you write the most? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 4 months ago
That is a fantastic way to improve writing style that I must try!
I haven’t heard this advice of mimicking great authors’ writing styles as a way to improve your own, but it makes perfect sense.
What were some of the authors you modeled after?

Kathleen replied to the topic What piece of writing advice changed the way you write the most? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 4 months ago
Yeah, style so often overlooked by a lot of writers.
Was there anything particular you did to help improve your writing style? Or was it just a lot of practice and persistence?

What piece of writing advice changed the way you write the most?
What writing advice helped you the most with your writing? For me the piece of writing advice that changed the way I write the most was to fully put yourself into the main character’s headspace while writing.
To take a moment before I write a scene to think what the MC is thinking,…[Read more]

I have yet to read the Inheritance Cycle, and I must say, this doesn’t make me any more excited to do so.
Oh, yes… Jason. All I remember about him was that he was very forgettable.
Probably the weakest protagonist Riordan has ever written.
