“Bob the Baby was walking along. Then, he jumped on somebody’s head.” Bob the Baby was a character I made up.
I have a book that I filed with the others that goes like this:
(Title) Who ate the grapes?
One day there was a girl who saw grapes.
She ate the grapes.
And she walked away from the grapes.
And she sat on the…[Read more]

Ooooh, this sounds really cool!
Congrats on getting your book published! Are you self-publishing it, or are you publishing it traditionally? Can’t wait to read more about your novel!

Wow! You definitely take the crown as the person that started writing the earliest!
What were some of the stories your mom dictated about?

So, what is y’all’s favorite time period in which to write in? Is it this century? Or is it more around the time of the revolution, the civil war, or, say, fifty years ago?
Thoughts?

Hobbitchild replied to the topic Musical Theatre in the forum Film 5 years, 10 months ago
Musical theatre. is. the. best! I’ve been watching some documentaries on how professional companies put together plays. It’s completely fascinating, and it really helps me to know what the audition process would be like if I ever go to an audition (which I really hope will happen).
Some of the best musical theatre songs are from Annie (though…[Read more]

I’ve been writing before I really could write.
What I mean is, my first books were written by my mom but dictated by me at about three years old. They were stapled together sheets of paper with hand-drawn illustrations. I read them sometimes, and I’m not sure if I quite follow the storyline…especially because some of the words probably aren’…[Read more]

I think I started writing when I was three or four, before I could really put the words down myself. 🙂 I dictated to my mom.

@kathleenramm Yes, something like that! For me, it’s because I feel like I want to complete that arc with them. Learn that lesson and get rid of that lie with them!
@devastate-lasting I read the story, and it’s beautiful! Your writing is amazing!

Hobbitchild replied to the topic Time to share my story!!! in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 10 months ago
I’ve never published a book so this is new to me XD. I write for educational fiction for a school curriculum, and I focus on writing middle-school age stories. I sent one version of my first chapter of my book to a famous author, Andrew Clements, who, sadly, died shortly after. He replied before he died though and said the chapter made him want t…[Read more]

Ah yes, one of the most frustrating things about having an unfinished story are the characters’ incomplete arcs.
For me, it almost feels like the character is never at peace until the book is finished. Stuck in a bad state of mind, or believing some lie, and the only way I can help them out is to write and finish Their arc a…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I find that the deeper my characters’ arcs run in the story, the more motivated I am to finish the story. I just want to make that character learn the lesson s/he needs to learn! So if I’m feeling unmotivated, I usually start working on character arcs/backstories because I know I’m lacking in that area. (For some reason I always…[Read more]
