Trahia the Minstrel replied to the topic Have you ever written a story with multiple POV? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
@kathleenramm @elfwing @devastate-lasting @jodi-maile @keilah-h @anyoneiforgotinthisthread
I am consistently writing a fantasy series that has two main POVs, who are are equal main characters. Occasionally I will have one off chapters or scenes in another of the main characters’ section POVs, but only when it’s absolutely necessary.

Trahia the Minstrel replied to the topic Why do you write? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
Your reasons for writing are quite similar to mine!
I write because1. I love telling stories and I always have, even though I didn’t enjoy writing until I was about 11, when I decided to write a fanfic about a Mario game.
2. I write it express my pain and work through things that are hard for me. Because I’ve suffered grief, most of…[Read more]

Elfwing replied to the topic What aspect of writing have you grown most with as a writer? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 6 months ago
@kathleenramm I have improved most in writing what I am wanting to portray.
What I mean is I actually complete the scenes for people to read. I sometimes forget readers are book readers, not mind readers! XD
I’ve definitely improved in fleshing charries out, or so people have told me.

@kathleenramm I think for me it was probably plot and themes. I remember when I first started writing I didn’t really know what themes I wanted to write about, how to incorporate them, or if I even wanted a theme. Now I think that everything I write has multiple themes woven throughout, though I can’t quite tell what they are. (This is why I…[Read more]

Trahia the Minstrel replied to the topic Making Bible Characters Relatable in the forum Biblical Fiction 4 years, 6 months ago
Have you seen The Chosen? It’s quite good biblical fiction and does what you were saying with making the characters believable and have flaws and all that. It’s a great series about Christ’s disciples and the struggles they might have faced following him during the years of his ministry. It’s really cool, and they have two whole s…[Read more]

@e.p.writes
Yes!! I’ve added them to my mental list of favourite books. They are indeed thought provoking and deep. They make you think. I don’t like books that you can read and then forget about the next day. I like books the I can read and then the next few days still be pondering the meanings and then deeper meaning behind the story. Like the…[Read more]

@e-p-writes There’s so much commentary here I’ll keep this short, but welcome to the kingdom 🙂 We’re so glad you’re here! (Also, the color blue is beautiful in all its shades, I agree).
@kathleenramm I’ve been meaning to tell you for a bit, but I read The Hunger Games and all books in the series this summer based on your suggestion… and they…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Sorry, but I don’t have a pancake. Perhaps try IHOP.
@anatra23 I recommend not trying to translate it. It appears that the code got corrupted at some point in time (
last time I trust a morse code translator.jk I’ll probably use it again 😜.) -

@kathleenramm I haven’t use the birthday cake corpse ideas in a story (and don’t really plan to). What I got out of the dream was the emotions and experience of being near someone when they are told that a loved one has passed.

Honestly, I have no idea where my ideas come from!! 🤣 I think I had such an uneventful life growing up that I created people and places that were so much more exciting!
I know I do get some idea from books, movies, and music. I’ve also had dreams give me great ideas and one time gave me the perfect inciting incident!I think a lot…[Read more]

Sorry I’ve been so terrible at being on the forum!
@kathleenramm The premise of my story is a little shaky right now, but it’s about a boy who gets thrown back in time (from the future to now) and who has to find his way home (at the most basic level).
@devastate-lasting I wish I had tips to give you… I’m just a baby sci-fi writer myself. …[Read more]

Hey everyone! Keilah here. I’m currently worldbuilding on a dystopian/sci-fi/fantasy world, and I’d like your feedback on it!
The premise I have so far (for the first book anyway, I might make it a series):
Torrent Starcatcher has had a hard life.
She was born into a universe in turmoil; the violent dictator Indy has been in control since before…

@kathleenramm I get ideas from all kinds of places. My first fanfiction was literally inspired by a picture of a boat I saw in a magazine. And I get ideas from dreams all the time, like the one about dinosaurs that were used by police when I had a dream I was at a police station and they had a whole pen of gallimimus dinosaurs to ride. That dream…[Read more]

I can respect those opinions 😉
154 thousand words is the general estimated amount here. Yea, I didn’t realize it was so long. My bro and I were sorta in a “who can read it the fastest and still have the most intelligent things to say despite sleep deprivation” contest. It happens more often than you’d think. Over most of it, I loved…[Read more]

So… unexpected place? Physical, or like, emotional?
Lol, but seriously, I get the best story ideas when I’m mad. Like, frustrated mad when I only get an awful 89 on my math test.
Sometimes I’ll be talking to my sis, we’ll be deep in a discussion, she’ll be mid sentence, then I’ll stand up, turn to her and demand she say a random…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Plenty of places that I don’t even remember. Probably something similar to your waffle house experience. If I remember I’ll let you know.

@kathleenramm I’ve never been to a waffle house at any time of day, so my imagination is doing a good job of creeping me out XD

Oh, yeah, most of my story ideas come from real experiences. Like last week, when I fought a dragon in the backyard. You know. That sort of thing.

For me it was that as in real life, the antagonist does not have to be a corrupt human or evil demon kind of thing; it could be anything.
Everyone has something in their life that is their ‘antagonist’, it may be a literal person being a pain in the butt, but it could be anything from financial problems to chronic pain to health…[Read more]
