@kathleenramm Oh, I get it. I actually liked the idea of the Serpentines, and whenever I imagine a Lego Wingfeather Saga scene I think of using Serpentine heads for the Fangs….. It’s crazy we thought of the same thing!

Aww don’t feel bad XD I haven’t gotten much read either this year, sadly. I think I’ve read… maybe 9. I feel like this could be more, but that is all I can think of at the moment haha.
The Christy Miller Series–6 books, Robin Jones Gunn
Mark of the Thief–Jennifer A. Nielson
The Lost Island of Tamarind books 1 and 2–Nadia…[Read more]

Yay! This will be interesting. 🙂
I’ve read all those books except for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The Secret Garden is fabulous!
(There are some great middle grade books. I mean, wasn’t Narnia for children?) 😉
My reading list looks like a fiction salad with a handful of non-fiction croutons.
What books have I…[Read more]

Oh boy. Here we go. This isn’t in order of when I read them, by the way, but these are all the new books I remember reading last year. (It’s already new year for me right now.)
How Many Books Have You Read This Year?
#1 The Way of Kings Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive Book 1
#2 Words of Radiance Stormlight Archive Book 2…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I get Wingfeather is not for you. I get it. But how in the world could Ninjago have done it better? I don’t remember anything in that story resembling the Wingfeather storyline.
And honestly, I’d take Wingfeather’s repetitiveness any day. Ninjago gets DARK. The movie is fine, and the characters from the show are cool, but I’ve heard…[Read more]

@kathleenramm
Exactly! It does make it quite difficult. My family and I have moved a lot for work the past year and a half, so we haven’t been able to commit to a library to get a library card from.My all-time favorite author is Rachel Fordham. If you are interested in historical fiction, I would highly recommend her book “The Hope of Azure…[Read more]

Hi Everyone! I’ve been making some rough sketches of my first two book covers, which I thought I’d share and hear whether you thought they looked good or not, and I thought maybe you guys would like to share your covers too, if you have them! It could be fun!

Book 1 and Book 2.
So I’ll go ahead and tag a bunch of people:

Keilah H. replied to the topic What's a story that you worked on for while but completely scrapped later on? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 2 months ago
@kathleenramm I know, I really should! His name was Snowflake, and I actually have a stuffed animal of him. He’s showed up a bit from time to time as a minor character in some of the stories. He apparently enjoys playing matchmaker as well as time traveling.

I wish I knew how to space a story properly back when. Reading back at some old stuff and seeing random bursts of quick action and then time skips, it’s a little frustrating.
Also that my stories don’t have to be a certain length. Oof, I would beat myself up about not having a specific number of words.

I’m still rather new to this, so I’ll probably be coming up with great answers for this question in about two to three years. 😉
However, I do wish I understood both the importance of developing my characters and not to be afraid to change something even after months of work. Also, just to think through where I want my story to…[Read more]

@kathleenramm When I first started writing, I wish I had known that it’s okay to make sloppy first drafts. Trying to make my story great the first time slowed me down and often left me discouraged about my writing.

Very cool!! I like writing the endings too, it’s satisfying, although I have trouble not drawing it out too much or making it too happy XD
Oh cool! She’s actually the one who pointed me to KP and encouraged me to join the forum. That would be so cool! Yeah, she’s inspiring!

@kathleenramm Many, many things. I wish I’d known how to format dialogue properly, I wish I’d known that I didn’t need to follow every single piece of writing advice I’d ever seen to the letter, and most importantly, I wish I’d realized that characters are what make a story interesting. Plot does as well, but it is secondary to the emotional pull…[Read more]

I wish I’d known how to properly format dialogue and split up paragraphs. Some of my stories, even up until just six or seven years ago (which… actually sounds like a lot longer when I count the years XD), are really difficult to follow (or just plain cringey) because my paragraphs are a disaster and my dialogue is formatted improperly.

@kathleenramm I wish I knew that typing was more efficient than handwriting.
Thanks to choices my 12 year old self made, I am still handwriting a certain story to this day.

That’s awesome! I’m pretty new to writing seriously, so I’ve never actually completed a novel yet.
I think my fave part about the writing process is character arcs. I love finding my charries unique voices and being able to write them in their different journeys. What about you?
I love spider-man! Are you excited…[Read more]

Yes! Of course!
That’s hard to say, because even when I was little, I’d write little stories and “publish” them via printer paper, tape, and staples XDD. I’ve always dreamed…[Read more]

Hi Kathleen!
#1 Oh cool! I have read the Hobbit, but not the Silmarillion yet. It’s definitely on my ‘books to read’ list tho XD
#2 Great question! Some of my favorite poets are Emily Dickinson, Edgar Guest, and John Greenleaf Whittier. Hmm favorite poems…gosh I have so many, we’d be here all day XD, but one that comes to mind…[Read more]
