Thank you for the examples, they actually help and can be relatable. Not only when it comes to characters but for the people who read about them in stories, as well. 🙂

Here’s some epic quotes from Ryo from a story I wrote when I was 8.
Why the story I wrote when I was 8, and not a more recent story? Well, 8 years was when I peaked. Ever since then, both my writing and my cuteness declined. My face is kinda like cryptocurrency sometimes. Meaning, it goes up in value, down in value, and Elon Musk wants to send…[Read more]

So, I thought it’d be fun to share three of a character’s lines (or however many characters you want to do) that are distinctive to their personalities and could, by themselves, be used to describe your character. Here’s mine:
Character: Catherine Miranda Davis
“The day you come to court me, Rudy Newark, is the day I learn how to use Uncle J…

The moonlight shone in through the kitchen window, sending shadows skittering across the tile floor. I pushed up the tablecloth that was draped over my hideout – kitchen tables are very useful peices of furniture – and peeked into the dark recess of the pantry for the umpteenth time. The double-sided tape, chipotle pepper, mousetraps, and frying…

Thank you! I understand what you mean, and it’s a good way to put it. In way, it’s like saying a character should be able to overcome his/her doubts in order to triumph over fears. But we can’t make a character all-the-time brave and all-the-time doubtless. For what I’ve learned is courage is not without fear, just as faith is not without doubt.

Lin replied to the topic What's your biggest strength and weakness as a writer? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 4 months ago
@kathleenramm I pretty much just practiced writing for a while, then I took a couple of courses on style and things, and then I just wrote a ton until sometime last year when I felt like my style is more like what it is now. And it’s still developing, though right now I’m finally finding it satisfactory.

Hi, it’s SeekeroftheTruth!
I have a question that I need an answer to (no rush!:)). How do I describe a character feeling worthless in a situation, such as worrying about not being able to go to Heaven, or a similar emotion to such? I hope this is not depressing. I’m just trying to figure out how for one of my characters.

@kathleenramm My biggest weakness is probably editing. Editing is the thing I’ve spent least time on. It always makes me feel like I’ve never edited enough lol.
Biggest strength? At this point, probably my prose. That’s the only thing I get consistently complimented on.

Hi, it’s SeekerofthTruth!
I have a question for the Kingdom Pen Forum.
I’m working on a book series, but they are mainly chapters that might be in the second or later books. And I have many ideas. Among them happens to be one where gargoyles could be involved. I got inspired by Disney’s Gargoyles series. But I’m trying to understand if it’s the…[Read more] -

Welp, I’m very late to the party, but I thought I’d pop in anyway.
I think that when things like what you’re experiencing happen, drafts show their beauty. 🙂 I know with every draft of my novels/short stories, they become better. Perhaps if you tried finishing the story, taking a bit of a break, and then diving in again, you’d…[Read more]

Yeah, I like birds! I don’t watch them or anything, but I enjoy learning about them. I used the chickadee’s “Fee-bee” call in one of my school papers. It’s so fun how it can be interpreted to mean the name “Phoebe;” perfect fuel for a writer. 😉
Aww, thanks! 😀
