Anna Brie started the topic Hello in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 10 months ago
Hi,
I’m Anna, also know as Bria in some places. I’ve bee lurking around the forum for several months, but I didn’t actually create an account until recently.I’m 19, but I only really started thinking about writing anything about a year ago. Now I have a first draft almost finished.
I also might be the first Australian on here. And Hope knows…[Read more]

@hope and @kate-flournoy Thanks! I was afraid I’d missed something like that. 😛 The policeman thing, Cobalt was supposed to be facing the opposite way from them, away from the car, so he saw it and they didn’t. But yeah, I did kind of drop the other henchman at that part. XD Will fix that.
@kate-flournoy Correct on the blue eyes, though he has…[Read more]

Okay, so more Cobalt for those of you who enjoyed that before.
Count me in that number. 😛
And the only things I had questions about was what @hope pointed out— what happened to the other bad guy and why didn’t the bad guys notice the policeman.
Otherwise, I loved it as I always do. Question that has nothing to do with the quality of the…[Read more]

@Daeus thank you! I do like the font, but the lines are so thin even at this substantially blown up size.
@Bluejay EEEK!!! I didn’t even see the missing E! Thank you!!!! 🙂
@Hope I do really like the fancy Y at the end of Publishing, but I like the sound of Publications better. Maybe he can do a fancy S or something. 🙂
Do you all think the…[Read more]

As far as characters, the next step for me is getting down the main characters in the resistance. I’m thinking I’ll have people from all sorts of backgrounds in the resistance leadership. Of course there would be my MC, and then there would be one or two noblemen, and of course a blacksmith, then a couple knights, and probably a…[Read more]

@hope It’s possible I’m remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure that $0.99 is the lowest price you can assign to a promo-code. If you wan’t to share a free book, research how to do it with dropbox.

@hope– Then I will look forward to reading them when you publish them. You are a terrific writer.
I can’t think of any examples either, in modern fiction anyway. *thinks* Actually, the Viking Quest series did that! How could I forget? Did you read Viking Quest?@daeus– That is a great book, isn’t it? Maybe I should read it again. I had forgotten…[Read more]

If you’re talking about Cyth and Analissa, @Hope, I’d definitely say you did a good job with that.

@hope– I’m sorry it took me so long to reply. Yes, that makes perfect sense. I will write accordingly. Can you give me an example of a book in which the author does that?

@hope it’s pretty good. Really allegorical/pilgrim’s progress sort of thing. Sir Faithful. The Castle of (fill in the positive attribute blank). In that, they’re outrightly having the different qualities be named and sought out things. Sounds like you’re having it a bit more subtle than that, though. 😛 You could still allude to it in the titles.…[Read more]

@hope I’m a little unsure what you were asking, but I’ll try to answer this.
I think you were asking how to publish outside of Amazon. I’m not positive, but I imagine you should be able to upload directly to all of the other retailers. I know at least for some you can (ibooks is one). Some people like to upload their book to this one company (I…[Read more]

Oh— and another new favorite.
Rose of Prophecy, by @Hope Schmidt. 😀
Seriously. Which says a lot for her, because when someone reads a book specifically to pick holes in it (I beta read it for her) they generally can’t get over the mistakes. 😛

I love character names. In fact I will get carried away when it comes to choosing just the right name… @hope Sean Lindstrom sounds awesome, and @belegteleri Chance Tudors is intriguing. And of course Mr. Burton has come to be quite famous. 🙂

@kateflournoy Wow! You do a lot of writing! How many words can you do in that time?
@hope Good for you! I wish I could write that much.
@daeus I wish I could do mornings. I envy those who can. 🙂
@rolena I write randomly throughout the day, too, but I learned that school drags on if I keep ‘taking a break’ to write. 😉 Middle of the…[Read more]

@hope said it, Masyn. 🙂
Believe it or not, I don’t think I’ve ever read a dystopian novel, but I definitely know what the genre is.
I will just say a couple of things though. I would say a dystopian story where the hero loses would have more potential for harm than otherwise. Assuming the hero stood for freedom and virtue etc.— everything…[Read more]
