I like the second one better, but they both work. I noticed just one thing. The name he is give appears nearly impossible to live up to, no matter what he sacrifices.
I’m assuming you meant “name he is GIVEN appears…” 😉

@hope I’m much more attracted by the first one, though you did a good job of condensing in the second one. What I loved about the first one (I seriously want to read this thing now) was how personal it was. It really gave me a connection with the character. Mainly, that was because of the first paragraph you left out in your second version.…[Read more]

So, when does thing get published? 🙂 I love the idea of having a jester’s apprentice!
Just a few things; I like the second better. It is shorter and with less information, it makes me want to find out what happens.
Also, perhaps the prophecy could be on the first page of the book along with the bold. That way, it’s what the reader sees…[Read more] -

@hope ann! Wonderful to make your acquaintance! Currently I’m working on about twenty different short stories and two novels. A handfull but I love it! And when I get stuck on one I can work on another.
My main novel takes place on the high seas of the Caribbean. Pirates and everything. *raises cutlass in salute*
The stories are all over the…[Read more] -

@hope No… I haven’t. I don’t know if I could bear it either. I bet it’s cool, but it’s impossible that it’s as good as the book and I would probably be disappointed.

Oh wow @Daeus, really… I’m glad I asked. Here’s my question though. How can the author who wrote Les Miserables write anything either soulless or themeless????? How is that even physically possible?? Grrrrrr… classical authors are so contradictory. 🙁
Yes @Christi-Eaton, Les Mis is definitely one of my favorites. But… uh… Madame…[Read more]

Hey guys, has anyone on here read The Hunchback of Notre Dame, by Victor Hugo? I haven’t, but I’m loving Les Miserables to BITS and I’ve been wanting to read it. I thought I’d get others’ opinions before I do, though, because unfortunately I’ve learned that classical authors can write inspiring masterpieces AND complete junk. :/

@kate-flournoy I understand! It does take a big chunk of time, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to do the entire 50,000, but it IS writing, so I WILL dream. And thank you! *is exceedingly grateful for understanding parents and co-op teachers*
@his-instrument I did it through the Young Writer’s Program last year, and left it set at 30,000, ended up…[Read more]

@hope I know I’m like eleven pages late but I wanted to comment on Beyond the Mask. I have a friend who helped with costumes in that movie and she actually appears in one scene. When Will and Charlotte are dancing together, there’s a lady with a model ship in her wig. That’s my friend, McKenna Rosen, and her dad is her partner. 🙂 I thought it…[Read more]

@hope, that’s interesting…Thanks everyone! I think I have it now! Each team will get a basket with devices to help them. They use wooden and blunted weapons. And, people can defend themselves when they are on the enemy’s territory. If they hit someone, that person cannot capture them for the duration of…[Read more]

Ooh, good discussion @Corissa-Maiden-of-Praise. I haven’t done a lot of thinking on this, but the first thing that popped into my head when I read your post was this verse:
The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the Lord.
Proverbs 21:31Quite simply, we are instructed to prepare and leave the rest to God. As @Hope is…[Read more]

Okay, I’m going to present some different viewpoints; I’m not saying I agree with them, I’m just saying I’ve heard them used and I’m curious how you will respond to them.
@hope Christ says in Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” He’s obviously not…[Read more]
