@kate-flournoy and @daeus
Thanks for helping me figure that out. Your points make a lot of sense. Besides, I did a little more searching last night, and I found a verse in Leviticus that just flat-out says, “Do not lie. Do not deceive one another.” So that’s that.
I just really hope I’m never placed in a situation where lying seems like it would…[Read more] -

Yeah, @kate-flournoy, I don’t think Rey should be Luke’s daughter. Although it would explain a few things. Maybe he left her at Jakku because he was afraid that if she knew about the Force, she would turn to the dark side, like Kylo did.
@daeus, did you ever see episode I? That’s where they revealed the whole Force-is-in-the-blood thing. It was…[Read more] -

@lightningmouse I like PA. I’ve been to Gettysburg, Lancaster, and Pittsburgh. I love Sight and Sound and Gettysburg.
I live in Ohio, where there are a lot of trees, a lot of grass, and a lot of houses. I’m in a suburb, but we’ve got a bunch of trees in our backyard, so I get to see all kinds of birds, the occasional deer, skunks (regularly),…[Read more] -

Okay, I know I’m late in this discussion. I read it a while ago and didn’t have anything to say. But I was thinking last night and came up with something else. Now, I’m not saying I agree with what I’m about to say, I’m just throwing it out there.
Does the Bible ever say not to lie– ever?
The commandment that we all associate with “Do not lie”…[Read more] -

@daeus @bluejay @Dragon-Snapper @Anne-Swiftblade @Kate-flournoy
Who else thinks that Rey is somehow related to the Skywalkers? I mean, the Force seems to be hereditary (since it has to do with mitichlorians in the blood, even though it really stinks that the entire Force hinges on these little living things in the blood). Is it possible that Luke…[Read more] -

@bluejay I’m going to vote for 1. The Witch of Blackbird Pond, 2. The Hobbit, or 3. Frindle. Witch of Blackbird Pond is one of my top favorites! And if you’re interested in other books by the same author check out The Bronze Bow.

Okay, I’m also going to post about Fin. He just completely threw off the way I viewed Storm Troopers. It’s easy to hate a sea of bad guys whose faces you can’t see. You think they’re just clones– maybe not even fully human– and so it doesn’t bother you to see people shooting them and blasting them. But then, suddenly, here’s a Storm Trooper with…[Read more]

@Daeus @Kate-Flournoy Thank you for putting all of my thoughts on Kylo Ren into words. I don’t know if Ren is my favorite bad guy, but he’s definitely up there. Gollum is close. If anybody understands me on that one I’d love to hear that I’m not the only person in the universe who was actually rooting for Gollum and his redemption. And then…[Read more]

My NaNo username was either eyeonthesparrow or eyeonthesparrow2 on YWP. I’m not on the main NaNo site yet. I haven’t been on that account for years! I’ll have to dig it up again. 🙂

I don’t know whether or not that’s true, @sarah-h, but it sounds like an excellent theory. You’re right about how John almost hides his identity.
I love the scene where Philip and Nathanael are introduced. The dialogue exchanged by them sort of carries across their characters. Nathanael obviously has some prejudices (“Nazareth! Can anything good…[Read more] -

@kate-flournoy @sarah-h @corissa-maiden-of-praise Glad you could join us! I’m hoping this study will be the sort of thing that’s easy to pick up on even if you’ve missed a few weeks. I think that doing one chapter per week instead of per day should make it even easier to catch up, even if it will take us longer to complete. I feel like there’s a…[Read more]

@aella Have you done NaNo before? I did it for three years but my word count goal was never beyond 40,000. How many hours a day does it take to write a 50,000 word novel? I’d love to do it but I have to see what my school workload looks like. Between school and dance I’m usually pretty busy, but I should know in a couple of weeks. I’ll keep you…[Read more]

@corissa-maiden-of-praise, my favorite Odyssey character is Wooton– hands down. I didn’t know Jason was in a Last Chance Detectives episode! I’ll have to check it out. Novacom is my favorite series in Odyssey, although I liked Blackgaard Chronicles too.

@hope I know I’m like eleven pages late but I wanted to comment on Beyond the Mask. I have a friend who helped with costumes in that movie and she actually appears in one scene. When Will and Charlotte are dancing together, there’s a lady with a model ship in her wig. That’s my friend, McKenna Rosen, and her dad is her partner. 🙂 I thought it…[Read more]

Thanks @jess! I’ll check it out! Have you read The Jungle Book? I read the abridged version when I was younger, but I really want to read the original (it’s on my list but I’m working on Les Mis right now and that will take a while. 🙂 ) I grew up on Disney’s animated Jungle Book and I’d love to read the novel.

And I’ll start with a comment on what I consider “section 1” of John 1: verses 1-17.
He starts with “In the beginning.” (“We start at the very beginning, a very good place to start!” ~Maria, The Sound of Music ) There are quite a few “echoes” from Genesis in John 1. And it begins with “In the beginning.”
Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created…[Read more] - Load More
