Heeyyyyyyy! So good to see you!
Congratulations on completing your draft! *Throws confetti* That is absolutely amazing! ✨🎉👏🏻 Have you celebrated ? Rewarded yourself?
Some questions… Is it the Destina project or a different one? I don’t want to asume lol. Also, second draft, is it an edited version or a second book? Just wondering if there would be ways to make the process less gargantuan.
(Just realized. If you’re in the area Friday, we might see each other, although I have a feeling we’re in very different sections… Still, if you’re attending a |-|yph3n meeting this week we should try to coordinate something. Wear a particular color or something. And it’s certainly ok if you’re not. It’s just ridiculously ironic to attend the same conferences without meeting )

Lol. Latin is fascinating.
Collecting slang sounds brilliant and fun. *Takes recommendation* I’ve played with coloquialisms a little, but in a useful way. I shall have to try that.
What’s your favorite word biome so far?
*peers through the glitter*
Wow. Grammar is interesting, but I haven’t done work in it. Your conlags sound lovely. I especially like the antler one.
Like I said, your conlags are fascinating in their randomness, so letting them float around a little isn’t bad. If you did tie them in closer, do you think it would affect/express the local logic patterns?
I have never looked into Korean before. It is fun when the subject-verb stuff can be swapped! Is the sentence structure your faithing, or is there something else that you like better? Or is it too hard to decide?

True enough.
Oh this is interesting.
Reúven
Now that was a harder question. He scrunched his eyebrows together as he worked it out.
“Yeah. Accidents happen. I guess any school is going to have those. It’s gotten much better, though, under the current administration. The bully gang was broken up, so most accidents are, well, accidents.”
That was what he told himself at least.
“The problem with accidents is that they’re unpredictable. You can try to prevent them, but you can’t know what will-”
A ball flew overhead. Reúven and half the kids on the bleachers ducked instinctively. It hit the upper benches hard enough to rattle the whole structure. Definitely not a safe shot.
“-happen. Case in point.” Reúven grinned at the newspaper girl. He could see a retriever player wheeling away from the game in pursuit of the rubber meteor.

Sorry it’s so short.
Reúven
“Um…” He paused to calculate. “Three years.”

Yay!
Reúven
He had no idea who this lady was. She looked like a student, and near his class year at that. She had to be new.
But if she was new, how did she get on the school newspaper committee?
He looked back to the game as if he was distracted by something over there. Her face blurred in the corner of his vision. She blinked.
Did he mind? Most kids wouldn’t. A sigh slipped out and he turned back to her.
“It depends. Will I remain anonymous? I really can’t go on record for anything.”

Oh fun! Extinct languages in stories are some of my favorite. Is it commonly understood by the characters, or is it like Latin and has a niche group that uses it?

Question for other world building enthusiasts and /or other KeePers.
Anyone else make up languages? If so, what methods do you use? If not, is there any language you just like the sound of? Do y’all prefer logical languages or something closer to linguistic chaos?
I’ve been working on one off and on the last few years. It’s nothing serious, considering I only have a few words and grammar structures figured out, but it is fun. I recently discovered the primitive root structure of Hebrew and have been using it to make up words in this conlang. (Every word belongs to a family of words all based off a 2-3 letter root. Each family has a basic meaning, with each word in it using the root meaning a slightly different way whether by making it a verb or making it figurative.) This language is now being primed for puns lol.

In continuation because this is fun for me at least. XD
Reúven
Yes, this game was fun.
For some reason, that phrase echoed through his head as he lay on his back, staring at the tangle of arms and legs that had plowed into him. Two younger kids had tried to dodge into the same space. Unfortunately, it had been Reúven’s space. He was going to be sore tomorrow.
“Are you ok?” A high school student had appeared and was attempting to aid the disentangling. Reúven pushed himself to a sitting position and began sliding back, out of the mess.
“I think we’re fine.” He tried not to wince as one of the kids vaulted off him, kneeing him soundly in the gut. Good thing he didn’t loose his lunch easily. He scooted himself further back, away from the off balanced middle schoolers.
Something wummped into his shoulder. He noted the distinct round shape as it bounded away like a rubber manifestation of evil irony.
“Ope, you’re out.” The high schooler waved waved a hand awkwardly in his direction. Reúven rolled his eyes.
“You sure? I thought that was a pay raise.” He stood, then thinking better of it, glanced back. “Thanks for the help. Keep the fight, ok? Let’s see them beat.”
The kid’s frozen smile warmed back up and he nodded. “Sure!”
Reúven turned and got himself out of there before the PE Master could blow his whistle on him. He joined his fallen teammates on the benches to watch.
This was a fun game.

I guess Reúven is in the Dodgeball game… Hmm.
Reúven
Eibuavkin! His ball smacked soundly into an opposite teammate. Reúven ducked back from the line before someone could fire back. One of his own teammates passed him another ball. Reúven turned the thing in his hands, testing the give of the rubber while he picked out a target. This ball had a little more air than the last one. It probably hadn’t been thrown as much.
He threw. The ball shot out toward a tall guy who showed a dangerous amount of experience in this game. Reúven winced as the ball missed by inches.
It happened to everyone. Unfortunately, the guy had seen who threw at him and was spinning to aim at Reúven. The duel was on.
A ball hurtled overhead. Another one pegged the girl to Reúven’s left. A pitty, since Sofia was one of their best players. Reúven ducked back to make sure she was fine before taking out her opposite number. That was a satisfying shot.
Someone handed him another ball.
This game was fun.

Lol ok.
Sounds good! I can understand that and sympathize. XD I’ll try to get in some POVs from Reúven so it’ll be ready when you are able. It’ll be fun.

I actually forgot about the dance. Lol.
Like Loopy said, not much has changed.

I’m looking forward to meeting her!
Reúven is not wanting any attention, so that could be suspicious to her. He also usually carries a “pocket knife” that’s beyond the allowed length. She could also see him in uniform and think he’s some hired guard, or otherwise think he’d be great to interview. Then when he refuses an interview, maybe she’d get suspicious? IDK. Several options. He will be donning his uniform this afternoon, since he has muster the time of the dance. (But it is cancelled, leaving him with nothing to do lol. That’s been my plan at least.)
If she knew she had put someone in danger, would she try to make it right? His family is just outside of needing witnesses protection. Or would she feel his presence is another threat to other kids? Would either of those be avenues you’d want to explore? It could be something that starts simple, but escalates like most stuff does in this RP. XD
I think he’s just made contact with some old family friend. He would die before he hurt his family, but he has a much lower self-preservation instinct. If an operation could possibly help, he’s going to look into it. I don’t exactly know how he would be important to a real spy ring, but I’m thinking he acts the role of a drop box, a layer of insulation between field teams and higher up.
You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan
That would work splendidly. XD *paused to decide if I’ll info dump on the RP-AU or how he is in canon…*
CANON In his story, his father Micha is the younger brother of one of the heads of the Eirtanian houses (Viktor’s dad). Micha married the daughter and heir of a different house, so Reúven is actually the intended Ra’ehan of the mountains. When Reúven was almost five, civil war/coup broke out, his uncle’s family died or disappeared, his mom’s health destroyed by smoke inhalation trying to save the kids, and his dad was injured in an accident while the family escaped to the mountains. All around a bad time. His mum died soon after, leaving Micha to raise Reúven as best he can. Reúven actually has a great childhood, everything considered. He runs messages for his paraplegic dad, is taught all sorts of life skills and good pranks from his cousins on his mother’s side, and develops a healthy sense of humor. A second tragedy when he was twelve ends his childhood and pushes him into more serious spy work. At 14 he’s his dad’s right hand as well as his feet and often travels through occupied territory. That’s how he met Viktor and the rest of his cousins. They’ve been inseparable since.
ROLE PLAY In this AU, Reúven and the rest are refugees from their home country, which is currently deep in war. Viktor’s parents and Reúven’s mom were killed in a bombing. Reúven’s dad was a chaplain in the military while Viktor’s was like leader of the house/counsel or something. Reúven feels called to go into chaplain work, but he also really wants to see justice served. He keeps tabs on what’s going on back home and may be getting information back to some old friends. He’s involved in the National Civil Patrol (I think that’s what I called them. Basically a natural disaster/missing persons/community work program for youth run by the military. A bit like CAP) and is pursuing college classes so he can have his masters in divinity by the time he’s 21. (Wears black combat boots, a polish style great coat, and uses a military surplus duffel. When working with the NCP, he wears a military uniform. Probably dark khaki.)
Not sure what he’s doing as spy work. Probably trying to do some humanitarian work, sending food stuffs etc, but it would be like him to be sending information as well. And maybe supplies. In his book he eavesdrops on officials, takes note of troop movements, and has loyal connections within the different cities that give him information through various means. He doesn’t lead the whole spy ring, but he is significant. Probably similar here, laundering and coding information. Thoughtsess?

I’m seriously considering putting Reúven in some hot water (Figuratively). In the books, he’s deeply involved in espionage. I would like to expand on that part of his personality. So… thoughts or suggestions? I was thinking of having an invisible nemesis start connecting the dots back to the Elrois, but that wouldn’t be as fun as someone else getting to air out a character. They don’t have to be evil (although they could be), just too curious for their own good (or directly linked to the enemies in whatever war being caught in Reúven’s native land. Whatever you want.). The Dorwains are a Spanish/Mongolian/Ural mix inspired people with a large appreciation for warfare, but your character could be from wherever and just in the pay of, or absolutely unconnected to, the Dorwains.
