I didn’t even think of those kinds of scenes, but I can definitely see why it’s your favorite to write!
It kinda sounds psychopathic but, for some reason, high emotion, and panicking scenes can be really fun to write. XD
Plus, I also like how you learn a lot more about the characters and see a side of them you didn’t see…[Read more]

Yes! I’m glad someone gave plot twists the appreciation they deserve! I love stories that keep you on your toes. I mean, if you already know how the story is going to play out from the beginning, then what’s the point of reading it?
What story has your favorite plot twist?
I too have the same struggle of not knowing…[Read more]

It’s hard to say what my favorite SW saga is because it’s been forever since I watched the originals, and the only prequel I was able to sit through was The Phantom Menace. (Sorry if any of you love the prequels, I just couldn’t stand the cringy dialogue and the CGI blinded my eyes.)
That being said, I guess my rankings from least…[Read more]

It makes a lot of sense that the poet in you is the part of you that takes pleasure in writing descriptions. Poetry can take seemingly simple things like the environment around us and put it through a new lens and make it into artwork.
I have so much respect for people who can do that well.
You can’t talk about great descriptions…[Read more]

Who doesn’t love a good plot twist!
I don’t know a lot of people who really enjoy the description of stories. Is there a particular reason it’s one of your favorites? And which authors do you think do description the best?
I haven’t read the book Pride and Prejudice, but I have watched two film adaptations. Why do you ask?

I definitely agree about how it’s fun seeing your favorite character go the literal worst together, but also have some sweet relationship-building moments through it all as well. But I usually daydream about it because I’ve never attempted writing fanfic. Partly because I’m too worried that I’d ruin my favorite characters, and…[Read more]

The Forum Topic of the Week is, What is your favorite type of scene to read/write/watch in a story and why? (Action scene, reflection scene, plot twist scene, dialogue scene, romance scene, etc.)
My personal favorite is definitely is dialogue. (If it’s done right, of course, an awful dialog can be unbearable). XD
It’s mainly my favorite because…[Read more]

What?! There’s an Avenger on the forum!? And not just any Avenger, but an Avenger that writes fantasy and crochets?
*seriously starts to reconsider who favorite Avenger is*
I used to do a lot of crocheting when I was younger as well. I would just crochet for hours on end while listening to audiobooks. But then my sketching hobby took over my…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic TOTW – What is a story cliche that you like? in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 5 months ago
Haha, yeah, as much as that trope can be interesting from a story standpoint, it rarely ever happens in real life. XD
Is there a particular story that you read/watched that does that trope well which made you like it?

Yeah, I also like it when characters are more than just their stereotypes.
Is there a particular story that you know of that does the “grumpy one that has a soft spot for only that one other character” trope well?

Interesting… There is not one cliche that you at least somewhat enjoy?
Well, since there isn’t a cliche you don’t like, is there a cliche that you particularly dislike?

Yeah, the forbidden love type is a cliche for a reason! It feels a lot more romantic than other relationships.
And you’re right about it being relatable to a lot of people. Rarely can you stay with everyone you dearly love. Seeing it happen in stories makes you connect to the characters more.

This week’s Forum Topic is…
What is a story cliche that you enjoy?
Most of the time when it comes to cliches in stories we usually roll our eyes. But is there a cliche that you actually enjoy? Why do you enjoy it?
One of the cliches that I like, is the incompetent hero trope.
The main reason being that it makes the protagonist more…[Read more]

Kathleen replied to the topic TOPIC OF THE WEEK – Who is the best villain in any book/movie of all time? in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 5 months ago
Never knew that about the original Beauty and the Beast! I love these little random facts about fairy tales. 😀
Some of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings, The Lighting Thief, The Hunger Games, and Why Is This Night Different From All Other Nights?
What are some of yours?
Haha, don’t worry about going off topic, I love a…[Read more]

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely be checking them out.
I haven’t actually read any of the original fairy tale stories before, but my favorite Disney fairy tale would probably be Beauty and the Beast.
Not only is it a lot more interesting story wise to a lot of other Disney Princess movies, but the message is a lot…[Read more]

Ah yes, the difference between interesting movies verses movies that are interesting to watch.
If your watching with some good friends it can be really fun to just laugh at movies. Especially cheesy ones with bad acting.

I never hear the original version of The Little Mermaid! It’s so much more interesting and has much better message than the Disney version.
Though I get why Disney changed it. As much as I love stories where the main character sacrifices their life for someone or something they love, unfortunately I don’t think a Disney Princess movie…[Read more]

The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of the books on my “to read” list!
Is there a specific thing that you like in a villain/antagonist most that makes them your favorite?
