@Mark-Kamibaya yes, that’s a much better way to put it. Great points.
And the sinless Christian stereotype… wow, don’t even get me started on that one. 😛

I heard that Priebus is a Christian. Anyone have a take on that?
@Mark-Kamibaya ‘by their fruits you shall know them.’
In other words… I don’t think so. Same goes for Trump. I personally believe Trump was ‘over the line’, in your words, which is why I wouldn’t have voted for him (or Hillary) even if I had been old enough. But as far as…[Read more]

@SleepwalkingMK absolutely. XD
@Emma-FLournoy @Mark-Kamibaya yes, and you know why older people do that too? They weren’t raised right as kids. They never came out of that ‘everything centers around me’ stage that kids go through because no one ever taught them better.

Okay so I’m very late. Very, VERY late.
But, all the same, I wanted to say WELCOME @ethryndal to the bestistest place on the internet (I have no doubt that you’ve heard that phrase before)! 😉
There will be no judging of insanity here, as we’re all insane, too. 😛 You’re bound to fit in quite well here.

But if his parents let him do everything he wants, then he’ll probably be selfish.
Yes. And this is another thing about writing kids. They interact with the world however they have been allowed to interact. When they’re young they can’t see the reality of everything, so if left to themselves they shape their way however it f…[Read more]

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic How to write song lyrics – Help! in the forum Music 9 years, 6 months ago
@WarrioroftheRealm wow, this is really not my field of expertise. 😛 I write poems and sometimes turn them into songs in my head, but as far as actual lyric writing goes, I’m afraid I haven’t got much of anything to offer in the way of knowledge or advice. I’ll let you know if I think of anything though.

How did I miss this topic the first time around… 😛 @Lightningmouse those are fantastic. I always found it extremely difficult to master the highly stylized styles, but you did great. I especially love the newest one. 😀

@Hannah-Krynicki yup, that’s about it. Hardcore Libertarianism opts in favor of the constitutional system while ignoring the Biblical principles of morality that have made the system stand so long. They like the structure, but don’t care as much about the foundation. At least in my experience.

@Emma-Flournoy @Sarah-H not against the rules— it simply requests that no theological or political differences be the cause of ill-will or harsh words. I don’t believe for a minute either of you would do either of those 😛 , so feel free to debate if you want to.
That said, there isn’t really much point in debating politics now that things are…[Read more] -

The most helpful thing I can probably say that hasn’t already been said is that too often little ones are written as adorable angels— cute for cute’s sake, which is not cute in the least. It’s shallow. Kids are complex humans in the making, and if you focus on that they’ll be cute as a side effect anyway.
Also, because they are still growing…[Read more] -

@Anne-of-Lothlorien YES. So much yes.
And my search history… guys… I’m probably on an FBI watch-list or something. I’ve researched a lot of medical stuff (everything from cholera to bullet-wounds to branding-burns) but mostly its stuff like poison… and explosives… and a lot of other stuff I probably won’t ever use because I write…[Read more]

@Anne-of-Lothlorien I shall return more in depth later cuz I’m in a rush, but if you learn well by studying the work of other authors READ LADDIE BY GENE STRATTON PORTER. The story is told from the POV of the protagonist’s younger sister, and Gene Stratton Porter absolutely nailed the perspective of a ten-year-old girl.
I shall return. *vanishes…[Read more]

One of my absolute favorite movies, guys, is Rigoletto. It’s kinda old-ish so most of you probably haven’t even heard of it, but it is SO GOOD. The theme is tremendously well done— ‘an ugly heart is worse than an ugly face,’ and ‘Ignorance is the ugliest prejudice of all.’
And it’s completely a family film— we all watch it, down to the…[Read more]

Yes to the villain things, @Hope @Daeus. Also the Kylo Ren example is a little more drastic than we usually deal with— after all, we’re usually dealing with humans, not jedi, and humans can have compassion without completely ruining their reputation as a bad guy because compassion is just compassion, not ‘the light side’. But good example just…[Read more]
