@devastate-lasting Hey there! That’s good to know. Hopefully I can stay on here for quite a while then 🙂
@leon-fleming That’s right! I remember you joining just as the guilds kind of… died. There’s a thread called “New Wessex Worldbuilding and History” in the Announcements part, though, which is pretty cool and you can write yourself into the…[Read more]

@leon-fleming I’m thinking about becoming a speech therapist so wow your post was informative 🙂 To digress a little bit, what drew you into learning linguistics, and what sources did you learn from?
I don’t know what sounds I would vote for, but maybe we could exclude Z (since you mentioned you don’t like it) and maybe X because they are s…[Read more]

Mallory O'Bier replied to the topic TOPIC OF THE WEEK – Who is the best villain in any book/movie of all time? in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 11 months ago
Being able to freak out an entire world of characters without ever actually being in the room? Maybe Sauron is the greatest villain of all time.
Darth Vader. Why did I not think of him before? Most iconic, in my book. He is also a good candidate.

@leon-fleming mentioned Sauron. I would say that Sauron is a brilliant example of a villain who distances himself physically from the story but is still very active within it. I often find myself marveling at this.
He acts through his minions, somehow escaping a passive role in the story despite the lack of physical presence.
Although… I guess…[Read more]

My favorite villain is probably Sydney Carton, but I’m not sure if he counts exactly.
And the six-fingered man.
Hmm… honestly the first one I thought of was Loki, but again, he’s a wishy-washy sort of villain overall. He lacks conviction.
Moriarty! Smaug! I like them too.
Mother Gothel… she was really good, I thought.
Captain Hook! Now…[Read more]

Oh that’s awesome! Is there a particular reason you do it? Golden retrievers are awesome too. I work at a puppy Daycare and we get heaps!

Oooh hey, I’m actually a Loyal Sidekick! I get why SE removed the post count (it bugged me too for a while) but it really does give us (introverts) an incentive to post more 😛

Hiii everyone I’m back 🙂
My name is Grace and I’m a Taiwanese-American currently in Taiwan, an INFJ, and primarily a student. I don’t plan on pursuing a career as a writer and have actually kind of kept my distance from here and SE because the little time I have free I want to spend more on actual writing than on writing related stuff… but…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting 你好! 我真的很高兴发现这个地方有另外一个华人! 😀
I’m hailing from Taiwan, so about 20% of the simplified Chinese above is impossible for me to read… but thanks Google Translate 😛
Anyways, even though I’m about 11 pages late, it’s great to meet you! I’m an INFJ and also a student. I think it’s super cool that you’re writing some in Chinese, and…[Read more]

@not-so-secret-secret-assassin My apologies. Spy just seems to fit well with assassin.
@leon-fleming YES food! Once, long ago, raspberries and ice cream were the most important and precious commodities of this kingdom (besides writings).

@selah-chelyah Hmm, I’m pretty unfamiliar with drawing maps and such and putting them in books, so I don’t really know. My initial thought had been to hire/ask someone to draw it out. Idk, drawn things seem to add an interesting element to book.
Sorry I can’t help more! I don’t know much about this. 🙂
