        Hi @keilah-h

Ooh hard choice! My initial thought would be killing off the captain, because it seems most similar to the HTTYD death. If the brother of the MC is younger, I would definitely say don’t kill him, but if he’s older, it could still work to kill him off, because both the captain and older brother are kind of in leadership positions over the MC, and he’d lose a sort of mentor figure either way…

But I vote for captain! It seems like it’d make the most sense!

          Wow nice!

Ahh I have to choose Halt, because I always have a soft spot for a good mentor figure! What about you?

A Tale of Two Cities is harder….I really like all the main characters, but of course, Sydney is pretty great, so he might have to be my favorite!

Thank you for explaining 😀 I think I’m slowly figuring out the tags, haha

Another question, if you don’t mind: how do you reply to specific things in a post? Like I could have your question as a bullet point, and then reply underneath? I’ve seen other people do it but haven’t figured out how…

Hi guys! Not sure if this is the right place to put this question, but if anyone wants to help worldbuild a little?

I have this magic object, and I already know what it does and how it operates, but I’m stuck with how to describe it. I need something that symbolizes going against nature in a kind of evil-beauty way, and it has to be about the size of a large apple (for plot reasons).

SO the idea I came up with was maybe it would be like a block of ice that never melts (going against nature) but it looks kind of like snowflakes on the surface (for the evil beauty)?

Idk, that’s kind of the vibe I’m going for, but I’m not happy with that specific idea. Help?

Ooh your Alastair brothers book sounds cool! It gives me house Madrigal vibes from Encanto, if you’ve ever watched it🤣

Also, what was your inspiration for the name “Alastair”? I’m asking because I have a side character named Banistair and I love BOTH of those names!

Wow, hello! I don’t think I’ve ever joined a club like this before!

….but one question before my initiation:

Are you sure it’s mongooses, and not monGEESE??

                        @maiden_moonlight

Ok, the current book I’m writing is basically the introduction to a series that explores the idea of wanting too much power—and what happens if you actually get it…

The inspiration behind the series kind of came from a random thought: almost all villains in books or movies are trying to either gain power, money, or immortality, and I was just really interested by that last one, because in my mind, it would be awful to live forever in this world, instead of heaven, so the whole series is just kind of exploring what it would be like to be immortal here.

As for magic, I guess there’s a little? It’s not a huge part of the worldbuilding for this series, but I do have one magic object. It has a very specific purpose, and no one knows much about it. And I also have different “races”, which are basically just people that the Creator gave different special skills to set them up to be great rulers over the land. (But they they got deposed and exiled and everything…)

Yeah, it was really tough to write flash fictions at first, since I’m used to writing book-length projects, but it’s actually really fun and fulfilling now! I’ve found it helps to start right in the action, and slip in the little bits of information the reader needs to understand the context. That shortens it a lot, because you don’t have to do a big introduction, and you just have to worry about the action and ending.

                                  Hi!

That’s amazing! What are the titles of your published books?

Besides the works of the authors I mentioned on my bio, I also like Ranger’s Apprentice, Hunger Games, Redwall, Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, and also a lot of classics like Les Miserables, A Tale of Two Cities, the Three Musketeers, and a LOT more but my keyboard will break if I try to type them all out!

Hmm…I think I’d spend a week with Alastro, who’s my mentor figure. I think he’d be able to teach me a ton of cool swordplay and strategy! Also, I feel like maybe I should try and give him a week of therapy, because he sure could use that…

YES I LOVE CHOCOLATE! Especially if it has nuts or something in it to make it crunchy, but really I like every way I’ve ever had it, haha
