Huh…I have always loved multiple POV first person books, because then you get into the head of multiple characters! But I know it can be confusing, it just never has been a problem for me because in my mind, every character has a distinct voice.
Yeah, maybe the ones I’ve read aren’t very good. I haven’t read many.

I like first person, but I generally prefer third. Some first person books are great, like Alcatraz vs The Evil Librarians, but others annoy me. I generally dislike first person with multiple POVs because then I keep forgetting whose POV I’m in, which could be a problem with the writing. It’s more forgivable in romances,…[Read more]

Aw, thanks! He’s very new, not even a week old XD I think he is scaly all over, but other than the color, they are not immediately distinguishable from skin because they are smooth and small. But the scales are rough and textured if they are closer to the horns and back of the head.

Lol, you’re good 😂
Yes, he does have issues with his personality. Because of the way his brain develops when he’s younger, he has a lot of mood swings.
When I asked if you have issues with his personality, I meant, is his personality not functioning well for you as a writer? Like, from an outside perspective, a character’s personality can b…[Read more]

Waiiiit… isn’t the Penderwicks third person??? Or have I officially gone insane?
It’s third person. And first person with multiple POVs drives me crazy as well.

I’ll join! I have a super new character with mythological roots even, so that’s perfect 🙂
Name: Winston
Species: Half-demon. (By ‘demon’ I am not basing this creature on a biblical force, but on the forces in mythology. They represent manipulation of balance, rather than pure evil. Think of Journey to the West.)
Age: 16
Appearance: Winston…[Read more]

@esther-c First person for some reason really bothers me. There are some books like Percy Jackson and the Penderwicks that I’ve enjoyed despite being in first person, but it still really pulls me out of the story. It makes me wonder why the mc is talking to me or if the book is like the mc’s perso…[Read more]

I generally like third person more than first person. Both are good though, so do what you think works best. Just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s best. I can’t help much with the rest, because I’m having the same problem. Some books that do this well are The Penderwicks, The Vanderbeekers, Cheaper by the Dozen, and The Melendy Quartet.

1. I think it’s understandable, especially in a small space when you’re about to be discovered.
2. They are a little sympathetic, but not a whole lot, since they took unnecessary pleasure in punishing him.
3. It’s short, makes sense, certainly something to expect. I can’t say I have any…[Read more]

1. Oh and I don’t think him walking slowly and carefully quite fits? It totally could work and you can ignore me here, but typically you’re in either fight, flight, or freeze mode during a panic attack. You’re not thinking logically, you’re just acting on fear. Obviously he’s not going to fight, so I think it would make more sense if he was eithe…[Read more]

1. I think it was pretty accurate except that he was thinking in full sentences. Typically when I’ve had an anxiety attack, my thoughts come in scattered fragments or images. Usually it’s only a couple words or a phrase on repeat or it’s just pure emotion and physical symptoms. Nothing really makes sense in the moment and m…[Read more]

Dante
Dante suppressed a yawn.
He had slept in late in the motel room after getting almost no sleep when he was outside the night before. He was exhausted from exploring, hunting pixies, and peer-pressured dance lessons. When he had finally woken up in the morning, he found Jr’s bed unsurprisingly empty.
Dante had left a sloppy note thanking J…[Read more]
