Oh! I love it. The characters are intriguing, the setting/world is interesting, and the concept is really fun. I want to read the rest!

I especially liked the way you describe the characters bit by bit. The piece where the candlelight is illuminating Aedan’s face was an especially fine part to read. I love the way it formed his features…[Read more]

Your WIP sounds good! I read the first chapter that you posted on here a while ago, and I liked the way you used their diaries for flashbacks and telling the story.

    Thanks!

     It’s so fun!

Ikr! It helps with planning too.

Thanks for showing me how to quote!

    Yeah!

  • @arien

First off, I love your name! I don’t believe we’ve met yet. I’m Lightoverdarkness6, a young teenage girl who loves writing, reading, playing piano, and exploring in the woods near our house. I saw that you love Lotr and Monte Cristo!! I do too! Who’s your favorite character? My favorite from Lotr is Samwise Gamgee or Aragorn and my favorit…[Read more]

My sis, bro and I read it and here’s our thoughts, respectively:

Absolutely intriguing, really pulls you in, can’t wait for more!

Decent…if I picked up this book I would keep reading.

I really like it! The twin dynamic is fun. As for personalities, I’m sort of getting that Aedan is resourceful, alert and protective of his sister.…[Read more]

I really like it! I love the character’s immediately, and want to know what happens next! 😀

The only thing I might suggest is just making it a little longer, for a first chapter it was pretty short. That’s just me though, I like to describe things a lot, therefore my chapters are a bit long. A lot of the description you used of the mc’s…[Read more]

You can quote someone by copying what he or she says into the reply box, then selecting it and hitting the ” symbol in the left corner (after the bold and italics symbols)

I had no idea either till someone told @arien lol 🙂

Favorite character? Ah, that’s hard. Too hard… I can’t 🤣 I love them all! Probably Sam or Boromir, though. What about you?

Ok, yeah, I’ve heard of rustic fantasy, just not the name. I love that you don’t have to care about being historically accurate. 😂 Just make stuff up!

    Ok, cool!

Yes, LOTR! I have some of those on my classical…[Read more]

It really is a good book! It’s one of the few books that my dad likes, and he’s not a reader. The intricacy of the plot is sooo well done; it’s just one of those super complicated storylines that keep you hooked! You really should write an article!

I ordered The Eagle of the Ninth from the library the other day, so I’ll let you know w…[Read more]

Hello! I would like some ideas on this scene.

Background: Christopher and Briana used to like each other, but then they got captured and Briana blamed it on Christopher. She is trying to convince herself that she hates him, though she still likes him. Christopher loves her, but he hates her for hating him. (does that make sense lol?) Currently…[Read more]

Ooh, what’s your WIP about? That’s great that you discuss adoption, I think there need to be more books about that.

Lets see if I can do this without too many spoilers… 😂

Ok so Lesli (18) and Tauren (16) live in the mining district of the west hills bunkers, one of many scattered over the country after a devastating civil war about 160…[Read more]

Well, I am currently working on a trilogy which I don’t have a title for. The first two books are set in an early medievalish time, and the last one is World War/modern. Oh, and all the characters are animals, a little like The Green Ember.

Hearts of Gold 1) [early medievalish] Divided in a kingdom of shattered truth, paths are twisting…

Oh King of the Golden hall! I have that in my clarinet sheet music book.

Oh I like your themes! I like themes of sacrifice in family too, I have a section of my book about a character who made a lot of sacrifices to adopt a little girl.

Ooh Swallowtail summer sounds really interesting!

In A Dream Come True, I played around a lot with…

  • Hey!! I thought it would be fun to have a topic where we can share things we’re thankful for from the last year.

For me, one of the big things is recovery from Covid. (I love how this says “Covid” isn’t a word lol) My family was very sick–I had to go to the ER twice. But God brought all of us through.

More generally, I’m thankful for the…[Read more]

Hi @arien! Welcome to Kingdom Pen!

I’m TheLoonyOne, also a Tolkien nerd! (A very very big Tolkien nerd) That’s so cool that your friend told you about KP. For me, it was my cousin 😂

You’ve written a whole book? 😲 That is so awesome! I’m usually quite a big procrastinator but I’m taking a novel in a semester class that is making me actually work…[Read more]

Greetings and salutations! Welcome to the Kingdom of Pen. The community here is indeed great. We’re glad you’re here!

I’m called Elishavet around here, and I mostly write realistic medieval fantasy (so I can blend my two favorite genres: Clean, medieval fantasy and Historical fiction), with the occasional poem.

I have read LotR, but I’m…[Read more]

Welcome to the kingdom! I’m Koshka, or that’s what I am around here. Here, and pretty much everywhere else, I write non-magical medieval-fantasy andthe random poem among other things. A lot of other things.

I have read and enjoyed LotR, but I don’t know if I exactly qualify as a fan (at least compared to those I would definitely say are…[Read more]
