August 10, 2018 at 11:57 pm #76093@seekjustice That’s good; one of the things I struggle with most is creating an interesting plot that actually makes sense.

www.jennaterese.comAugust 11, 2018 at 12:05 am #76096@jenwriter17 The hardest thing about this one is trying to bring it all together into something that effectively caps off the last two books.
@valtmy Most of it makes sense and a lot of it was said by another beta reader last week. Most of the main critiques have to do with my worldbuilding especially, which I know is pretty subpar.INFP Queen of the Kingdom commander of an army of origami cranes and a sabre from Babylon.

Good to know I’m not the only one that thinks so then. But worldbuilding is very crucial (one could say it is the heart of) for a dystopian story. And any changes you make (esp in the tech level) can cause ramifications in your plot (e.g. suddenly the conflict or problem doesn’t make sense because it can be solved or avoided via tech).
Since Les Mis was based in a historical time, I’m expecting a modern retelling set in the future to update and change the way events happen and the way the characters do things that reflect the advancement of technology. BBC’s Sherlock which puts Holmes in modern times with cell phones and all) is a good example.
