What did you think?? It was at least better than Liliom, right? 😛 How did you like the singers? (they used their real voices, unlike some musical actors, such as the ones in West Side Story) Gordon MacRae is one of my favorite singers. What was your favorite character? Scene? Song?

It was better than Liliom, definitely. I’m not sure I could say that I liked it though. The more of these old musicals I watch the more I’m sure I’ll never find one that I love 🙂
I think though, my main problem was that the ending made me really uncomfortable, especially the part where Louise and Julie talk about being hit and never feeling anything, or worse, it feeling like a loving kiss. that just struck me as really, really wrong. I could’ve lived with it if Julie had forgiven Billy and made that very clear, but the way it was…I just didn’t like it. It sounded like romanticising abuse to me, at least that was the impression I got.
But I did like the Soliloquy 🙂

@seekjustice Hey, I’m finally back.Haha! Well, you liked Brigadoon, right? 😉 That’s an old musical. It premiered on Broadway in 1947.
Yes, that part is pretty bad. It made the play, the musical, and the movie all extremely controversial. At least the movie toned it down with it only implied, rather than explicitly talked about, as in the stage musical, or even showing it on stage, as it was in the play.
The “Soliloquy” is amazing!! I’ve listened to a great many versions of it, but I always go back to the movie version as the best. I also like the “If I Loved You” reprise, when Julie can’t see Billy, and the lyrics are changed to be “now I’ve lost you.” Gordon MacRae puts so much emotion into that.

Poor Bobert has been pretty much neglected lately. I think that is partially the fault of @sam-kowal for keeping Stan away, since Stan is Bobert’s favorite sentient being besides myself and @jenwrieter7 (I don’t know why he likes Jen so much, he just does. 😉 )
Notice how I said “sentient being.” Isn’t that the most perfect way to describe someone? It’s a very sci-fi-y way, anyhow. 🙂
