@kyronthearcanin Thanks! Yeah, it wasn’t something I had planned for him at first, but I saw someone else’s fan art of him with it (again, he’s not my character originally) and decided it fit with the story, so…..
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
March 12, 2023 at 1:43 pm #136490Your story sounds really interesting! It’s cool showing the amount of power that just a story can hold.
My short story was about my character, Milo, who is addicted to a life-simulation game. In the story, he met Cammie (who also used the game, but Milo didn’t know in the short story) and the end had a very vague ending of him choosing to go on the train on the chance of seeing Cammie again instead of going on a personal Maglev (pretty much a taxi) and using the simulation.
The novel (more of a novella really) that I’m writing kind of extends that story over a longer amount of time and there is more action, and plot, and I added some more characters. The first two chapters are mostly the same except Milo chooses to go on the personal Maglev instead. So his character growth lasts the whole novel instead of just through the short story.
I’ve posted the first two chapters here on KP, and if you want I can tag you when I add another.

March 13, 2023 at 11:07 am #136583Hello @kyronthearcanin!
I’m Landri, and I’m a homeschool graduate in nursing school right now 😉 I write and read fantasy! I also enjoy historical fiction and medical history/fiction (hence my chosen career.) I’ve written a WIP with my co-writer, who you can also find on KP.
Questions!
1. Do you prefer novels or short stories?
2. How many sequels should be allowed for books?
3. Favorite writing snack?
Hope to see you around!

March 13, 2023 at 12:40 pm #136588Nice to meet you, Landri!
Fantasy is definitely my favorite genre. For some reason, though, I decided to make my main WIP mostly Sci-Fi. Maybe I just felt like trying something new? 🤣
1. I write both novels and short stories, and I really enjoy both. I don’t think I could choose between them! It would have more to do with what they’re about. One of my favorite WIPs is a short story that has ended up turning into either a novel or novella.
2. I honestly think that as long as the plot continues to make sense, and they manage to hold interest, there’s not really a limit to how many books can be in a series. I’ve read plenty with eight or more books, and they’ve all been really good!
3. Favorite writing snack… hmm. I’m not big on sweets compared to other food. I’d pretty much have to go with any form of chips.

March 14, 2023 at 8:54 pm #136830I like novellas too! I’ve finished two novellas and a novel, so I’m not exactly sure which are my favorite.
I think you have good sense on the sequel debate. I, for one, love sequels, but I really hate BAD sequels, if you know what I mean. Sometimes, you’ve really said everything you need to say about certain characters, and the plot just goes off the rails.
I’m a chip girl too! Not big on the sweets, especially when I really need to get things done 😉
Feel free to tag me for reading, questions, critiques, or advice! I’d love to help.

March 15, 2023 at 4:41 pm #137021I’ve never really finished an entire project. I’m kind of a pantser, and that led to multiple books with over three hundred pages and no direction 🤣. I might try to redeem some of them eventually.
I’ll definitely tag you! I already have the first chapter of my WIP, Healer, in the novel critique section, so feel free to read that if you want!

March 19, 2023 at 4:01 pm #137663@kyronthearcanin That sketch is amazing! 😍 How long have you been drawing?

March 19, 2023 at 4:06 pm #137664Thanks!
For quite a while, though I’ve never really been serious about it. Just kind of random scribbles in notebooks, that technically are supposed to be for schoolwork lol. I basically just needed to get the idea for what Rina was going to look like. That drawing is probably one of my favorites. 🙂
