THANK YOU SO MUCH TOO!!!
(Curse that all caps button for being such a temptation to use all the time XD ).
Seriously though, I appreciate it:) Yeah, the boat ride was awkward, (but surprisingly extremely fun to write). It’s hilarious/sometimes sweet/frustrating when they bicker and get at each other because I know that they will come around and admit to themselves how much they really like each other in the end but in the meantime……Β they are driving me bonkers. And to make it worse, it’s going to take aΒ lotΒ for the confession scene to come about. Even harder for Mejia since she literally clouts him when he- well actually, that’s a whole other long post of a scene, but she feels terrible for doing it later on. I feel pretty bad for Filip a lot, but I honestly don’t think he’d mind all the suffering I’ve ever put him through if he knew that Mejia does care about him.I’m super happy that you liked that scene’s outline because honestly, I felt like that was one of my worse scenes but it was too key to get rid of. Ikr? It’s like we give our characters trouble and they give us headaches in return XD
*Nearly fall off chair in excitement* AHHH! I CAN’T WAIT TO READ CHAPTER 4!!!!!!!! Don’t worry in the least about it being finished draft material. Since KP is for expanding writing horizons and creating, (it’s the publishing house that manuscripts need to be polished for:) But honestly, I enjoy your novel more than the published ones out there.
March 20, 2021 at 8:00 am #95938I know! It’s such a temptation! *takes deep breath* *moves finger away from all caps button* Of course! I think it sounds super interesting and not the typical romantic boat ride that you see all the time XD Oh, that’s so frustrating about writing hate-to-love romance… Newton and Caira won’t stop bickering and I’m just calmly sitting there with a grin on my face knowing everything. I think it would feel too awkward to include romance in my first novel, so unfortunately I have to wait until the second book… *sigh* Yeah, the confession is hard! Newton is the one that confesses to Caira, but it doesn’t go very well XD
Oh my word, seriously? Agh, I didn’t think I could possibly love this pair any more! I can’t wait to see it all unfold! Of course I liked it! And don’t worry–sometimes what looks bad to writers actually looks amazing to readers π
*grins* I KNOW! (I gave in to the temptation) I want to post the two chapters at the same time because I know everyone is dying to meet Newton, so I’m trying to polish it up a bit.Β And thank you for understanding that! I know that it still has room for improvement, but I guess that’s what KP is for! Awwww, you’re one of the KINDEST people ever, Abigail!! That makes me so so so happy!! You’ve been such an awesome encouragement to me and really helped me stay motivated!! π π π π π By the way, I had a question: is TheΒ Snow WarriorΒ your first novel? I didn’t know if I was the only first-time novelist on here…

March 20, 2021 at 8:53 pm #95965@writerlexi1216 Phew, I’m glad you got the email!Β (I know, right?! It’s so weird! XD) THANK YOU!!!!!π I’m so glad you like them!!!!!! (Thank you so much, Lexi!!!!! I’m so happy you like Palladin’s name!!!!!! His name means “warrior” and I think it’s very fitting for him.) Ok, I didn’t think about that. I’ll repost them:
“What’s your name? Your real name?” . . . He closed his eyes a moment as if pondering whether or not he should tell me. . . . βItβs Palladin. My name is Palladin.β
“No one can change what you’ve done. No one can erase it. But we can put it behind us and move forward. It’s time for forgiveness.”
(Also, I realized that the quotes above are from Rosalie’s POV. So here’s a quote from Palladin’s POV.)
How could I lose sight of the goal that was in front of me?
You’re so welcome, girl!!!!!!!ππΒ Also, if it’s ok, could you describe to me what Deek looks like or if there’s anything that makes you think of him? I want to create something that is Deek-inspired. But i’m not going to tell you what it is yet so you’ll be surprised.π€π

Fall in love with JesusMarch 20, 2021 at 10:23 pm #95978Yes, me too!!! I know, this thing can be so wonky sometimes!! XD And OF COURSE!! I loved them, and honestly, I’d LOVE to know more about the story where these charries came from!! *sighs and still obsessing over your gorgeous character names* Sorry, I have a weakness for great character names.
And yes, I re-read those quotes again and loved them still the second time! π Thank you for sharing them!
And *gasps* REALLY? Girl, that means so much to me that you love Deek so much! Especially since I was worried he wasn’t a likable character! Ok, I’ll give a description: He’s around fifteen years old, has dark brown hair, dark gray eyes, and usually wears either black or dark red. And some things that make me think of him are swords (since he carries one around with him). I’m sure there’s more, but my head’s just going blank right now XD OoooOooOooh, I’m so curious what it is! π Thank you for doing whatever it is!!! I’m sure I’ll be super surprised!!
March 20, 2021 at 11:19 pm #95985*Takes one hand and calmly uses it to remove the other from the caps button* THANK YOU!, *sigh, closes caps button up with duct tape*.
Ikr? Hate-to-love romances are so much fun to write on one hand and on the other, they drive me insane. Because while it’s cute/fun watching them bicker, it also makes me remember outlined future scenes that they know nothing of, (and would die of humiliation and horror from). That and like you said, pacing the confession is hard because while you want them to come to their senses, it wouldn’t work on all the other levels of storytelling…sigh.Newton confesses to Caira?! *I seriously am not sure how to spell an accurate scream, but it would fill up like, three inches of post* That had got to be EXTREMELY CUTE, (even if it didn’t go too well. Ooh, what happened?! That’s alright if you don’t want to share, but AH! So curious now!)
Thank you! (I’m glad someone likes those two XD No seriously, I love them very much too, and are great characters to write, but, the headache is like thiiiiiiiiiiis big XD ). That’s also really nice/helpful to remember that not everything that I think is terrible as a writer, is actually all that terrible. π
And understand completely:) Most all the scenes I share need polishing too, (the chapters that I hope to share on KP soon will be anything but perfect, but that’s why the word ‘improvement’ exists!:)
*Caps button breaks through the duct tape* I CAN BARELY WAIT TO READ IT!! AND THE ONLY THING THAT COULD POSSIBLY MAKE IT BETTER, ISΒ TWOΒ CHAPTERS!!:D
Thank you! I’m glad you think so, (I honestly just can’t lie about the awesomeness of your WIP:D You’ve been an awesome encouragement for me and TSW too!
And if you don’t include past novels that I only half wrote before finding a better idea… then yep! TSW is the first that I’m going to see all the way through to the bookstore XDMarch 21, 2021 at 8:05 am #95993*pauses* *glares at all caps button* Nope, I won’t give into the temptation… *puts entire book over all caps button* There we go. Yes, I know! Also, I’m really glad you’re writing hate-to-love as well, because now we can both talk about how
frustratingfun it is! π It makes me grin outlining those future scenes, because Caira would die from humiliation if she knew what was coming XD I think hate-to-love is probably one of the most difficult things to write, because there’s so much character development involved as well as pacing. But, on the other hand, it’s worth it once it all comes together:)Yes, he does! (He tries confessing three times, but gets interrupted every time, and he keeps getting disappointed). One night, he takes her to a bridge, and Newton (knowing nothing about romance), suddenly blurts out his feelings without warning. Caira is taken aback, and Newton keeps getting embarrassed and is very awkward. And then, to make it worse, he kisses her. Caira gets upset and, conflicted with her own feelings, yells at him that she doesnβt feel the same way. Sheβs in tears when she storms off, still trying to understand what happened, and Newton gets super embarrassed. He writes her an apology note and then temporarily splits up with the group. It’s sooo cute, but both of them are so conflicted with their feelings that it’s hard for them to be romantic at all, and it’sΒ hard for them to accept that they love each other because they used to be enemies. *sigh* So yeah. It may change later, I’m not sure.
And yes, I LOVE Mejia/Filip! It sounds like you’ve done an excellent job crafting out their relationship! Of course it isn’t terrible–I don’t even have to read your book to know that you’re an awesome writer! πΒ TSWΒ sounds like my kind of story, and I don’t say that very often:)
Thank you! I know I have a long ways to go, but I wanted to share a non-first draft just to get general feedback. Sometimes I worry that my ideas can be too weird because it’s fantasy, but things are bound to change, and that’s what the word ‘improvement’ is meant for:) And I’m sure yours will be great!!! I’m going to fangirl so hard/leave a thousand comments, and fall in love with the story all over again!:)
*gives in to the temptation of the all caps button* YES! I KNOW! I can’t wait to share! Though, this will be the last of my sharing. It’s quite a lot already. Aw, that makes me so happy to hear!!! Thank you!!! And honestly, it’s been a HUGE encouragement for me to see all you fangirl over my WIP! I mean, that just makes me SO HAPPY! I can’t wait until we’re published, so then we can look back on these posts and remember when we were writing about getting published!:) Oh, cool! Me too!:) XD

March 21, 2021 at 12:56 pm #96004*Sigh* Why did the computer company make that caps button anyway? Well obviously I have to cap the beginning of sentences, but there should a warning label on it somewhere XD
Same here, definitely. I’m super glad we’re both writing hate-to-love for our characters too because it is so frustrating/awesome at the same time. If I tried explaining it to all the non-writers I know, half of them would probably give me a strange look while the other half asks why I don’t make them like each other right away. *Sighs dramatically* being a writer can be so hard sometimes… XD
And it’s hard to make my characters swordfight each other while in the back of my mind, they are finally getting the hint, (it’s a good thing characters can’t read our minds XD ). So I’m really glad I’m not the only one here. But yes, it’s all worth it in the end:)And…
FORGET RESTRAINING THE CAPS BUTTON. THAT”S HOW THE CONFESSION WENT?! THAT”S IS THE MOST INCREDIBLY ADORABLE AND AWESOME THING IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!!! I MEAN I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! *INTERNALLY SCREAMING LOUDER THAN I THOUGHT WAS EVEN HUMANLY POSSIBLE!*
Oh my goodness! That is so cute and sweet and I’m going to be fangirling the rest of my life over this! That’s so amazing and I feel so terrible for poor Newton, but on the other hand, it’s just way too cute how he knows nothing about romance, is so confused, and is trying his best to tell Caira anyway, *sigh* Newton is just the best character ever!:D I love everything about that scene/s. Do they apologize and or admit to liking each other in that book or is that later on? Was it Caira who was interrupting him or Deek? Ah! So many questions! I can just imagine the scene on the bridge, aw, I love Newton more all the time! You are doing such anawesomeamazingEXTRAORDINARY job with these two!:D I’d run off to fangirl first then write this post, but then I’d never be back, so I’d better write it first.…….
(You have no idea how hard it is not to fangirl about that scene for about another five hundred words). But I know exactly what you mean, I’ve changed countless Mejia/Filip scenes. There’s only a handful that I like enough to keep as solid parts of the story.
Thank you! That’s incredibly encouraging! And none of the ideas I’ve heard so far are weird at all. “The two most engaging powers of a writer is to make new things familiar and familiar things new,” I don’t remember who said that, but it makes an excellent point that you can make the farfetched ideas of a fantastical world seem commonplace as if one could expect to see what they read once they look out their window.
And yep! “Improvement” is my favorite word when it comes to my WIPs:)
Okay, so pretend I haven’t said this a hundred times already for a sec… THANK YOU!! I appreciate that SOOOOO much!! You’ve really given me a bunch of encouragement to keep TSW moving, I mean I’d probably still be procrastinating otherwise. I hope I can publish a chapter soon, (but first I have a few articles to finish before April and your illustrations to post as soon as I can get a temporary alternative camera:). But I can’t wait!WHAT?! The last of your chapter sharing?!?!?! I kinda feel like writing one of those Robert Frost style poems about despair XD But I understand, (I probably have only five or six chapters to share in TSW, to begin with also), and that will leave me some to read when it’s published! I’m probably going to have to make a holiday or something out of the day that your novel is released:D I love fangirling over this masterpiece! (I seriously don’t say that too often, not even to the published). I know right? It’ll be so amazing to be published authors and looking back at these posts when we were in the middle of writing our novels:D
March 21, 2021 at 7:50 pm #96018My post isn’t showing up here… did you get it, or should I repost? I don’t know why it’s so wonky π
March 21, 2021 at 8:26 pm #96021I just realized I never answered your questions about the confession scene! *facepalms* Sorry about that. After Newton splits up with the group (because he’s embarrassed after confessing his feelings to Caira), Caira goes off on her own to find him, and then ends up apologizing to him for overreacting and yelling at him. She then confesses her own feelings for him, but they’re both pretty awkward when it comes to declaring their love for each other XD And it’s actually Caira’s best friend, Alana, who interrupts them a lot. She also teases Caira a bunch about Newton, and Caira always gets shy and embarrassed π And thank you! I thought a bridge would be romantic, but it’s ironic because the scene ends up being not romantic… I probably won’t change it since you love it so much!:)
March 22, 2021 at 3:04 am #96031It’s perfectly okay, I got it through my email:) Yeah, I know right? Sometimes I write a long post and then *poof* as soon as I hit ‘submit’ it disappears and I can’t see it on the screen.
I know! That doggone caps button is just far too conveniently placed XD And precisely, “it’s a writer thing,” ought to be a catchphrase for me XDCaira uses her powers on Newton?!?!? Oh my gosh! I didn’t even know it was possible to fangirl this much!:D Oh, Ikr? It seems like I’m always shaking my head when it comes to Mejia and Filip, (yes, I’m soooooo glad they can’t read our minds. That’s a pretty scary thought actually XD ). In fact, I’m glad they can’t read what we write too because I just finished outlining what the confession scene for Mejia and Filip will look like even though it’s waaay later in the novel and I think Mejia would pack up her things and leave if she knew about it in advance. Yikes, I sure hope characters can’t read things I’ve written.
And don’t worry because that scene is amazing! It is just way too adorable!:D And the very thought of Newton trying to flirt with Caira and being too afraid to hold her hand is just so… *internally screams* I can’t even find the right word for its level of cuteness/awesomeness!! π π π It’s like it has a whole new level that someone is going to have to invent a word for! Shipping Newton and Caira were just inevitable with how awesome those two are! (Even/especially when they bicker and get confused about them liking each other). There’s just no way possible, not to fangirl about them! Seriously, I’ve never even fangirled about characters in the past, (except perhaps two), but comparing those two to Newton, it’s like, where did they even go?
NP:) Yeah, though TSW is more adventure fiction than fantasy, I totally understand how hard fantasy is. Because while some people say it’s easier, it really isn’t because you have to build a world from scratch almost, populate it with flora, fauna, currency types, building types, settings, and magic andΒ itsΒ types and abilities. There are so many aspects of fantasy that can be difficult, but I think you’re doing an awesome job! (I honestly can hardly believe this is your first novel).
I don’t mind at all! I seriously hope to have a chapter that’ll be readable after this NaNoWriMo, (because that will probably take up most of my time writing-wise). But YES! I’d love for you to read some!:D That and I can’t wait to post those illustrations, I have about three of the trio together, two of Caira holding the sword to Newton (though one is better than the other), three of just Caira, one of Deek and Caira and I can’t remember the others at the moment, but by the time I can transfer them into my device, I’ll probably have more:)MOST DEFINITELY! That will be just about the awesomest holiday ever!! Maybe it should be between fall and winter since your WIP is set in both autumn and winter and mine is set in winter. I can’t wait! *Glances around* where in the world did I misplace my time-travel remote?
I seriously mean it, I think your novel has such incredible potential! That’s alright:) I appreciate you answering them though because I love hearing everything about Fortitude and that is the most fangirl worthiest thing ever! He splits up with them, she finds him and apologizes and confesses and oh my gosh that is just the cutest thing ever!! That’s so funny (not funny for poor Newton) that Alana is the one interrupting Newton’s confession. I think a bridge is the perfect setting because yeah, generally that’s exposed to be romantic and yet so ironic how un-romantic it turned out. And on top of that, it just seems so beautiful, to the scene and literally. Aww, poor Newton, but at the same time, I just love it all so much!!:D
March 22, 2021 at 12:02 pm #96048It seems my device is acting weird for the *looks up at ceiling and thinks* 1,000th time now. Sorry my replies aren’t showing up… you could check my profile and see it if you didn’t get it otherwise!:)
March 22, 2021 at 12:49 pm #96063I also realized I didn’t comment about your illustrations, either! *gasps* Those sound so amazing!! And thank you for doing so many!! I’m seriously internally screaming about wanting to see them!! π π π Thank you for bringing my characters to life!! I can’t wait to see them… *takes deep breath* Hopefully you can transfer them soon!! I’m SO looking forward to them!!! π
March 22, 2021 at 5:08 pm #96090@writerlexi1216 Really?!! You want to know more about my story?!?!?!?! Eeekkk, I’m so HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!πππ I guess, the first thing you should know is that Palladin and Rosalie live in neighboring countries that do. not. like. each. other. at. all. Their people have been at war with each other for centuries. Also, they have a lot magic – it’s basically a big part of their everyday lives.
Hehe, I have a weakness for unique character names too!!! (I’m over here obsessing over your gorgeous character names too!
And obsessing over Deek while I’m at it.)Thank you so much!!!!! π
Don’t worry about Deek being an unlikable character. Take my word for it – DEEK IS THE BEST!!!!!!!π Thank you so much for the description!!!!!!! I hope you like the surprise!
"It looks like a fairy world"~Meg from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Fall in love with JesusMarch 22, 2021 at 5:16 pm #96092YES! Of course I do! And *gasps* it sounds AMAZING! Seriously, it sounds like my kind of story already (I’m getting a slight medieval feeling, I love the fact that the countries are at war, and magic is just so neat!) *tries really hard not to fangirl but does anyway* I love it so much, and thanks for sharing it with me! π
Ah, me too! You’ve done a fantastic job with choosing your character names! (And oh my gosh thank you!! Deek would be thrilled if he knew, trust me) That makes me so happy you love him so much!!! Thank you for saying that!! π I can’t wait to share Ch.~4-5 (which have more of him in it π )! And of course!! I’m so excited to see the surprise!! *impatiently tries to wait but can’t* I’m so curious what it is…!

March 22, 2021 at 5:45 pm #96094Hey, so you were looking for things that reminded me of Deek for the ‘surprise’, right? I just thought of another thing: fire! He has fire powers, so fire definitely reminds me of him! I don’t know if this helps, but I just thought I’d add to my earlier post! π
