Magic is my big no-no. So, the tablet wasn’t magic, logically. Actually it was something important from an Indian tribe, the Bearpaws. It was their little membership card, so to speak, in the tribe.
Very important part of the story for my MC, Robin.
And the necklace in question in the other book was a sort of energy source that fell from…[Read more] -

Rosey Mucklestone started the topic Other Picture Prompt Entries in the forum 9 years, 1 month ago
I know we always get to see the chosen winner for the prompt each week, but part of the fun is seeing what different people did for the same thing.
Let’s post our entries that didn’t win below!
Correct me and take this down if I’m committing treason. 😛
(no entries that are still being judged, please. Only rounds that are already over.) -

The two important items I’ve used in my writing have been a necklace, and a clay tablet. Though, I would like to use a bracelet sometime as well. It’s probably based on my personal preference, since I really don’t like anything on my fingers, including nail polish. Whereas, I like bracelets and necklaces a lot. 😛
Oh, and I was also planning on…[Read more]

Okay. The wormhole Wikipedia page gave me way too many ideas. Now to figure out a non-cliche time travel plot… Maybe I should start a topic?

Since I self-published, all my actual, finished book files are one lulu.com. Other than that, a thumbdrive is pretty reliable. I don’t think Daeus’s hypothetical situation is very likely to happen. 😉

@Jada: I just finished Prophet and have the next one ordered from the library. It’s really good so far! 🙂 I can see a few Peleg Chronicles similarities…
@Hope: First books of the infinite, or Peleg chronicles?

Are you a Hornblower fan, by any chance? -

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It was fun to write. XD Well, if I’m going to make it into a novel, I’ll definitely have to look up some more science on wormholes. I was kinda going off the top of my head, science-wise there. 😛

Rosey Mucklestone replied to the topic Diabolical Dialogue in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
There are dialog cliches to avoid as well.
“You’ll never get away with this!” “Oh, but I already have/Watch me.”
“It’s quiet… too quiet.”
“You should sit down.”
“Well if it isn’t___”
“How is he?” “He’ll live.”
“What just happened?”
“Whatever you do, don’t look down.”
“Stay here.” “No way, I’m coming with you.”Usually just try and find…[Read more]

Oh, gosh I have the same thing happening. XD Cobalt’s supposed to be the secondary character to Jean and he’s totally taking over and running away with the show.
YES. Though Cobalt doesn’t usually notice when he says something deep. 😛
No, he’s actually in my first book, the sci-fi. I’ll try and get a picture of the cover here:
It majorly needs…[Read more]

Well… lovely. So’s Denholm. 😀
Well, then. Now I’m even more interested in Denholm. XP Those guys kinda tend to steal the spotlight and become a reader favorite. That explains Denholm’s instant popularity on here. 😉

Historical fiction, sci-fi, western, humor… and dipping my toes into an obscure genre of fantasy. So yeah. I’ll borrow your phrase that I’m a fiction writer. Good answer. ;P

Welcome aboard, David! (*looks at my picture* that was oddly appropriate…)
Hope you enjoy it here!
So, what have you written? Book-wise, short-story-wise, poem-wise… what sort of writer are you? -

Cobalt Girl. I wasn’t around a lot. I’m a friend of silverstorm’s, so I only dropped in to say hi to her, put up a few critiques and ask Josie to do my cover. -

Gross understatements in conversations actually help the humor a lot. Or just observe the humor you like and imitate it. A good representation of my method of humor in dialog is my story on here “The Day Santa Wore Carhartts”. Mostly between Grant and Rob.
It’s also best to make your characters clash in funny ways. I have my characters Cobalt (the…[Read more] -
