@warrenluther04 That all sounds very cool. Do you watch any anime/ read any manga?

@warrenluther04 So what kind of digital art do you draw? (Ahh kind of envious of people who can draw their own characters…I do draw, but not frequently, and not well enough for whatever I see in my head :’))

Lin replied to the topic What was the premise of your first novel? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 9 months ago
@merieshenanigans Oh I remember Ever After High. Those were cool books. I liked The Princess Tales by Gail Carson Levine, but I remember REALLY loving The League of Princes series by Christopher Healy. Those three books were among my favorite books as a child.

@warrenluther04 Warren! I remember you!
I will go down your list and comment randomly:
– I’m actually kinda surprised to see that you’re younger than me haha (though depends on the month)
-Are you still working on that story with Lucie and Sydeny and Charles and the superhero premise? (At least I think that was it? It’s been a while lol)

@kathleenramm I have the first one in my house, but I haven’t touched it. It’s definitely on my to-read.
Let’s see…maybe ten to twelve? I started officially “writing” when I was twelve, I think.

@kathleenramm As my first novel has sprung into a very large and interwoven project, I think I’ll recount the first short story that I wrote that launched me into writing.
It was a fairy-tale retelling, I think. I had different characters from different stories come together to…do something. I can’t quite remember what. But I do remember that…[Read more]

@purenostalgia Firstly, I just wanted to tell you a) I like your username and b) I had your profile picture for my wallpaper for the longest time.
For short stories I generally think of a concept or a scene that I want to write and then I surround it with other things. Develop it a little…something like that. I have a large cast of characters…[Read more]

@kathleenramm One on my to-watch list would be My Beautiful Bride…the movies I watched I’m not sure of the names because I watched them with Chinese subs haha
I really love Ateez! They have great music and they’re all really sweet guys! Highly recommend.
@merieshenanigans I listen to Ateez, Oneus, A.C.E, WayV, BTS, Noir, Stray Kids, and Monsta…[Read more]

@merieshenanigans Haha, that’s fine. It seems like a lot of commitment to watch a show. There are several great Korean movies I’ve watched before, though.
I wouldn’t exactly call myself a ‘kpop stan’, as I only stan one group right now (it’s really hard for me to focus on more than one group at a time) but I like to listen to a lot of the songs,…[Read more]

@merieshenanigans Haha you’re currently living in a Chinese-speaking community so I think you have an advantage XD I tried learning German and French once, but I can’t spell German and I can’t pronounce French, so those might have to wait for a future time. I’ve heard that Korean is really easy, which makes it super appealing.
There are actually…[Read more]

@merieshenanigans No, unfortunately. I do want to go someday, though. I know Chinese quite well. I think something cool to do would be to learn all the Asian languages so I can blend in anywhere. Unrealistic, however.
Ooh, I do want to go to Korea as well one day. But for now I guess I’ll just watch Korean movies.
Ahaha at some point you’re…[Read more]

@merieshenanigans Ah, Beijing’s where my grandparents live! It’s one of my favorite places.
I’ve been meaning to learn Korean, but I think I’ll try to finish Japanese first. What’s Korea like?
Do you watch any anime?

Lin replied to the topic TOPIC OF THE WEEK – How do you think of story ideas? in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 10 months ago
@kathleenramm Ahaha I always wished that I could dream myself into another world (but my dreams aren’t usually vivid so-)
Not really anything in particular that I can remember. I essentially plagiarize everything.

@leon-fleming A third culture kid is basically what I am; we’re raised in a different cultures than what our parents were raised in. So a second-generation immigrant, basically.

@merieshenanigans Hello!!! Nice to meet you!
I, too, write novels by hand because I’m insane! Crazy how efficient it actually is.
My aunt, uncle, and cousins live in Shanghai, so I’ve been there more than once. It’s a cool place. (Not gonna lie I find myself missing China a lot these days…honestly very bad timing)
Have you always lived in…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic TOPIC OF THE WEEK – How do you think of story ideas? in the forum Start HERE 5 years, 10 months ago
@kathleenramm Honestly most of things started out from this world I created when I was a kid. I just created it to escape to; there’s nothing special about it. So gradually as I got older I’d begun developing it and making characters and often if I was reading a book or watching a movie or listening to a song, I’d think, “Oh, it’d be cool if there…[Read more]
