Ok y’all… i have a really cool idea… At least I think it’s cool. I suppose we’ll see. XD
ANYWAY!
So I saw a writer on YouTube do this same thing (ish). She took multiple polls on Instagram about what people’s favorite genres, tropes, etc. were and compiled them all into one story. I don’t think she ended up writing the book, but she at least…[Read more]

Cool! We’ll definitely try and find books by christian authors — I was thinking some of C. S. Lewis’ works, not the Chronicles of Narnia but the other books he wrote. (He wrote quite a few which were mostly metaphors for the christian faith.)
I tried to read To Kill a Mockingbird and I stopped at like the third chapter…[Read more]

@esther-c @trailblazer @theducktator @rae @whoever I forgot
I’ve been wanting to start a sort of online KP book club. So basically we would read the same books at the same time and then discuss them. I think it would be interesting because other people would bring their unique experiences, thoughts, and observations to the discussion instead of…[Read more]

I read that article and yes, it is SO GOOD. I don’t really write very happy books, but they usually turn out well — or are supposed to turn out well, because I don’t finish them often. Sort of like what @trailblazer said about how they don’t feel relevant enough. I think the most joyful story I’ve written was when I was seven or eight…[Read more]

@whalekeeper Oooh, I love this topic – thanks so much for starting it!
Honestly, I resonate a lot with what @trailblazer said about writing because you’re a storyteller. I’m the kind of person who’s been scribbling stories for as long as I can remember. I don’t think I ever sat down and went “I’m going to write a story because xyz” – I tell…[Read more]

Y’all have made some really good points!! I like hearing all your thoughts on this topic. I honestly feel like there’s not a one-size-fits-all answer to the topics of preachiness and theme. They differ for each genre, each story, each author, and each plan God has for the authors and the…[Read more]

I have been stalking this topic, trying to figure out why I write, and the best answer I could come up with is because I love it. (I know, so profound.) I love my characters, I love watching them interact, (especially when it’s awkward), I love how most of them insult each other, yet love each other very deeply. Most of them have s…[Read more]

I wholly agree with @trailblazer on this one.
Writing can be serious at times and fun at others. But I don’t agree that our writing should just be to “entertain” others.
Yes, people should like it and have fun with it, but if our writing is just for showing a small lesson and “entertainment”, I think we have a few things…[Read more]

I’ve read all your posts! Even though I can’t reply to them all because length – I agree that you can’t write something you don’t know already. You can still write an extroverted character if you’re introverted, but they’ll be a combo of extrovert behavior you already know and some of your own brain wanderings. Like the Loops/Dante…[Read more]

I feel like my humor comes naturally and it fits naturally in my stories (ok, not all the time. I have removed a few jokes that are just too cringe, lol), but not all stories need some level of humor. I think the reason humor comes through in my stories is because I’ve been told I’m a funny person (or cra…[Read more]

Wyoh looks like an egg mcmuffin. (It worked last time.)
So the essence of what I was trying to say is this:
We know God created the word Good, but maybe not its meaning, because He used it before anybody else existed.
Since the bible says that the requirements of the law are written in our hearts, does that mean that what…[Read more]

I’ve been wondering about this since discussing writing as a gift from God (with Esther and various others… I can’t remember who because I’m so sick right now 😂).
I’ve noticed everyone has a different writing approach. I don’t mean strategy, plotter/pantser, etc.  But everyone has a different level of passion, different focuses, and especially h…[Read more]

I don’t think my last post showed up — sorry if you get this twice.
Thanks! I’ll have to work on it more so that I can eventually publish it *smiles dreamily at the ceiling* but it’s honestly hard to write from her perspective — kind of like trying to paint a wall black and white at the same time.

Okay so I’ve been working on a lovely story which isn’t lovely but whatever which (both annoyingly and thrillingly) keeps evolving to the point where I’ve changed the plot at least twenty times. I would definitely not share a lot of what happens here, because there is killing and abuse in it. However, I think a snippet of this one scene would be…[Read more]

That was deep. I kinda want to read the rest of the story to see her journey. I love how you describe just enough, but not so much that I was drowning in it. That makes the character’s actions the centre point of the story. Not that I have anything against description, I just appreciate your style. 🙂
