Trailblazer replied to the topic Do your characters tend to be more extraverted or introverted? in the forum Topic of the Week 11 months, 3 weeks ago
I feel like the majority of my characters are introverts, mainly because I’m more introverted. I’ve tried to create extroverted characters to add balance, but I’ve found it difficult because I don’t relate. I would say not all my characters are extreme introverts; I’ve come out of my shell more in the past couple years, so my…[Read more]

A week later, Albert left for Little Springs. He never said goodbye to me, and I wished I could apologize for what I’d said. But I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
The day after he left, I was in the barn milking our cow, Molly. I heard footsteps enter the barn, and turned to see Abe app…[Read more]

Trailblazer replied to the topic Short Short Story Prompt War! in the forum General Writing Discussions 11 months, 3 weeks ago
I haven’t decided yet if I’ll join this prompt or not. It depends on whether I can come up with an idea or have the time to do it. I have a lot going on with Christmas coming up!

@rae Ok. I just quickly gave it a name. It’s historical fiction set in the 1800s.
A Father’s Wish

Oops… I did write a short story for the first prompt and then totally forgot I had to post it lol. It doesn’t really matter… I don’t have a title for it anyhow.

Yeah we saw the elk when we were in the Grand Tetons. A couple moose, too, which was cool. No grizzly bears though, sadly.

Yeah my family did a big trip a couple years ago visiting a bunch of places in the West/Midwest. I’ve also seen some just a couple hours from where I live, which is kinda unusual, but that time was probably ten years ago now.

Ok that makes sense that they’re big elk… I’m assuming around the same size as a moose? Most elk I’ve seen aren’t a whole lot bigger than deer.

Welcome back! I joined KP about… three months ago? I think? Anyway, I write primarily contemporary fiction or historical fiction, but I’ve also done some mystery and a bit of journalism. I also love hiking, and photography is one of my hobbies as well! I love encountering God in His creation, and mountains are my happy…[Read more]

Honestly, sometimes just stories in general — even after finishing a book, if it’s really good, I find myself going back and just thinking about the best/most emotional parts of the book over and over again, if that makes sense.
Oh yeah, it’s super easy for me to get wrapped up in reading books, too! To be fair, some books have been…[Read more]

Trailblazer replied to the topic Microsoft Word or Google Docs?? in the forum General Writing Discussions 12 months ago
I don’t usually use Google Docs; I had to use it during my year in public school, and I’ll occasionally use it if I’m sharing with someone, but otherwise I’m not a huge fan. I don’t have Word either, I use LibreOffice, but I think it’s pretty similar to Word.

I didn’t struggle with this as much when I was younger, but now that my schedule’s gotten busier and it has come down to making choices between spending more time with God and writing, it’s gotten worse. I miss the days when I had enough time to spend an hour or more with God and then still…[Read more]

I don’t know why, but Rainier strikes me as a funny name for some reason. Love it!
I thought it would be appropriate to name an elk after a mountain, and I almost went with Shuksan, then realized Kari wouldn’t know about that mountain (since most people don’t). So Rainier it is!
