Crosshair
One of the soldiers drew his pistol. “Give us one good reason why we should tell you our names.”
The other had his hand on his holster, ready to draw.
Next to one of them, a young woman stood, evidently trying not to attract Crosshair’s attention. The way she hung close to…[Read more]

Afghanistan in the War on Terror?
I have an Uncle who fought over there.
If you want more study material, I recommend American Heroes, the book I mentioned earlier. (In fact, if at all possible you NEED to read that book. It details the war from a first hand, yet not graphic, point of view, as Colonel Oliver North worked right…[Read more]

@joy-caroline This is why I get annoyed sometimes when I write my stories in notebooks–I can’t go back and erase what I don’t want like I can on a computer. I do that all the time. Half of my notebook-written stories [that I still want to continue] are abandoned, thirty pages in or so, because I wasn’t so sure about the beginning and just wanted…[Read more]

I understand! All my early writing was Historical fiction. Then I found historical fantasy. Already being a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my writing, it’s a relief not to be constantly worried about accuracy.

So am I! XD I’m just now learning her back story.
The funny thing is all myÂ
awfulyounger writing had female MCs. All of it. Then a few years ago I picked back up writing, and POOF! Nearly all male. -

So! Here is my other MC for Seas of Fury. She’s one of those characters I am still figuring out, so here is her first collage. She’s also randomly the only female character that made it to MC stage.

@hullofellowhumans sounds like an interesting plot idea. I also enjoy a good sci-fi/dystopian story here and there. What are some of your favorites?
A couple of ideas
1) 500,000 is kinda a low population for a planet. Say, we’re talking about one as tiny as Pluto (About half the size of the US), even in this case, every person would be able to…[Read more]

Ah, makes sense. What I love about writing in a medieval-fantasy world is being able to use all the random historical facts I collect, and yet not have to worry about being completely accurate. (I’m a bit of a history nerd)

Crosshair
It was a little amusing, the way the fox thing was snarling at him like it wanted to bite his head off. Crosshair knew he could easily kick it into the wall before it even penetrated his armor.
“Hey!” one of the characters yelled, before also…[Read more]

Ooo, intriguing. What sort of kingdom is this? Is the king good?

Koshka replied to the topic Hey, Everyone! in the forum Start HERE 4 years, 1 month ago
Welcome to the Kingdom! I write non-magical medieval-fantasy.
What do you mean by ‘middle ages’? That’s a pretty wide range of time… Is it historical fiction?
What is your WIP about? (Work In Progress)

I just flipped back through it, and remembered what I loved most about it; it’s far more likely to mention prayer than profanity.

Oh, yikes! He’s on front lines then…
Have you ever read American Heroes: in the Fight Against Radical Islam by Oliver North? It’s amazing, although there are some instances of military language, and I don’t mean tactical terms. That’s where I first got introduced to the military medical field.

That scene makes me want to hit someone. Hard.
And also makes me think of all the stories I’ve heard.
And seriously…will you need beta readers?
