I don’t quite have a system yet, but I’m basically starting by slowly introducing the words. For example, “om,” “ur,” and “bryn” are all mentioned in the naming of Dune’s ships. The others will most likely be introduced when there are other Felisaro present.
That works really well! And I’d love to see it. I’m working…[Read more]

“She” as in Rina. Just realized I never clarified. 😅

While there might be at some point, I have not yet figured out an ipa chart for it. There is very little standardized grammatical structure, if any, and it would definitely lean towards chaotic yet efficient for secrecy. Most Felisaro are very loyal. The fact that Dune, a character introduced later, is a rogue, endangers the…[Read more]

I don’t have everything figured out for the secret language in Healer, but I know it will be fairly random, as they are hoping to keep secrecy by keeping it completely separate from normal language. However, there may be some similarites.
Om- Good.
Ur- Bad.
Bryn- Fortune.
Ka- Attack; fight.
Zyr- Escape; leave; get out.
Those…[Read more]

Why do we bake cookies and cook bacon?
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
Why did Tarzan never have a beard? (This one bothers me for some reason lol)

(Possibly) (Now, if we are speaking of the unknown as the future, things that are yet to happen, then there is no way that we can make a model that accurately represents it. All we know is the known future. There is an extent and a limit to what we can know. This shows how finite we are, and how omniscient and infinite our God is.…[Read more]

Thanks, yeah that helps a bit. The problem I’m having is that his character arc starts in book 2, but I want people to be sad when he leaves in book 1. He doesn’t have a big connection to the mc’s, which I thought might be a problem. He actually has one of the stronger character arcs I’ve come up with, it just all happens later.…[Read more]

Would by definition, the unknowable, ineffable, and incomprehensible mean that we could not accomplish such a feat, or could we at least make models and representations of such things through the words we use for them, such as ineffable, though by definition, the ineffable cannot be described by words?
(Oof) (Erm…)
(Making m…[Read more]

Ok guys! I made this topic because I have a little problem that could use some discussion:
My oc Layson leaves at the end of book 1. I want the readers to be like nooooooo XD
I need him to be meaningful to the other characters in order to make this work. So here’s a little backround if that helps:
Worked in the same mining shift as my…[Read more]

Does it depend on what is unknown? Is the unknown still knowable, or is it the ineffable and incomprehensible?
(Um… I didn’t think that far. XD)
(Maybe the unknown is knowable, but only to those who dare to venture into the unknown and make it the known.)
Should you be careful asking that question because of children that love to…

(First, C. S. Lewis is just awesome in general. Great writer, and maybe an even better apologist. And as for chess, I’d love to play you once I’m done with lunch.)
Do you use chess.com or something else?

whaley started the topic Guessing Story Elements From Songs! in the forum Music 3 years, 1 month ago
I had this fun idea this morning. On this thread, you can post a list of songs that seem to fit your WIP – but don’t tell us what the WIP is. It’s a guessing game. Everyone else has to guess why you chose that song, and what it has to do with your story. You could use well-known songs, like from Disney or old classics, or something new. Just as…[Read more]

(That actually makes a lot of sense. It makes me think of the questions like, “What can’t God do?” The answers are always something like, he can’t make a square circle, or a married bachelor. He can’t sin. I’ve always enjoyed thinking about the questions like that, even though I know the answers for a fact. But yes, there are…[Read more]
