There’s many ways you can do fantasy maps, so it comes down to style and preference. You can have straight overhead maps or you can make it look like your looking at it at an angle. Or you could have zoomed in sections of the map to show locations in the way a person would view them if there. I’m always happy to help with…[Read more]

Ok, I’ll leave it in for now. The story’s still not finished anyway so I can always take it out later if I decide to.

I did black and white also, since uh… that’s what all of y’all did, and I couldn’t find face claims that matched their eye colors and hair

So on top we have John and Elizabeth (parents)
and then from left to right, we have Kate (the oldest) and James (middle) and finally…[Read more]

I think that’s why the whole scene felt so weird to me, too. I have a certain amount of romance in a book that I can tolerate and usually kissing scenes are too much for me. Years ago, I personally made the decision to save my first kiss for my wedding day and I think that’s why it’s hard for me to stomach kissing scenes lol.…[Read more]

It’s totally fine! Don’t feel bad! (Now I feel bad for making you feel bad! lol)
No it’s ok! That was totally my bad 🙂
It does kind of sound like her though, so I see where you’re coming from.
Yeah, I jumped to conclusions : P
Yeah, I really don’t want the romance to be the main reason for the abuse, because that just sounds…

Girl I feel so bad about that now, I just tried to give advice on a character when you didn’t ask for it 🤦🏻♀️it just really sounded like Ottoline’s situation 😭

Let me know if anything in this section sounds strange or unrealistic. Some parts feel a little awkward to me, and I want to know if it feels that way to other readers or if it’s just me.
In early September, the first cornshucking of the season took place. Mama had finally agreed that I was old enough to go,…[Read more]

Oh also (I’m sorry, if you can’t tell I have a lot of info on the topic to share) if you look up what ptsd is like you’ll know more about those flashback reactions. I have no idea how real they are but I see them all the times in books, and books generally aren’t a good source of reference.

Oh and I saw you said you needed help with how they would act after trauma and abuse, so I’ll add on a little more.
Everyone I think will have a slightly different reaction, but seeing as it’s a relative, it depends on what their relationship was like before this started. Did it start when she was young? If so, she likely…[Read more]

This is a great question!
I totally understand the thing with your parents. I don’t show my work to my parents or many people either, just because I don’t know what people would think of it. Teenagers in general like dystopian/ darker genre’s I think, so it might be harder for them to understand why you write it. The world…[Read more]

I think one of the best ways of writing uncomfortable/painful or possibly edge subjects is to merely state the facts and then be done, that’s how the Bible does it. (Perhaps, look at similar instances in the Bible and see how they are written.) You don’t need all the details. Sometimes the most powerful things said, are the…[Read more]

What you could do is make a google doc and post the chapters in there instead and update them, to make it easier for everybody to see the changes and the general order of the story. -

@savannah_grace2009
This is the way I think about plotting (mind you, I’m not that good at it lol!):
Think of the plot as something that can be repeatedly divided. On the highest level we have the entire story. That can be split up into exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. At that point, you can figure out what parts…[Read more] -

I don’t really know much about abuse effects or anything like that other than I’ve read in books, thankfully. One thing I would ask is, is it absolutely necessary to the plot/character? Because I think that can really easily become a cliched, sort of stereotypical in books, so if you’re just throwing it in there to make the…[Read more]
