@emma-flournoy I heard today that Trump might make Ted Cruz Attorney General or something like that. That would be exciting!

@the-bean Yes! I do that all the time.

@Hannah-Krynicki Thank you for the explanation. I think I can safely say I am not a Libertarian. 🙂
@kate-flournoy Ohhhh….Thank you for clarifying that.
@emma-flournoy I can’t hide behind the forum rules anymore, but….I still don’t really want to debate. 🙂 Partly because I don’t like politics, and partly because I agree with most of what…[Read more]

@Anna-Brie So does one of my brothers! (I would go with him, of course. 🙂 ) He really likes marine biology, and he wants to build the first aquarium with a live sea dinosaur exhibit.

@emma-flournoy I’m sorry for the lengthy silence; I was on a camping trip. (Yes, it was cold. 🙂 ) I remember the forum rules said we shouldn’t debate politics, and Trump is dreadfully controversial. I just wanted Anna to understand why I am so glad he won instead of Hillary. If I offended any Americans in the process, I didn’t mean to. I do have…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Yes, the Anthony Andrews one. I liked it, which is why I decided to read the book. Books are always better. Especially ones written in the 1900’s.

@hope Ah yes, you’re the one who I’ve heard from a trusted source on this thread that has, and I quote, “all the weapons, even a sword”. I stand in complete awe. And good luck on NaNo! I don’t know how you people can take the stress. If I were to do it, my family would probably lock me in the closet out of self preservation…:)

You know you’re a writer when you can never read a book or watch a movie without lapsing into an intense inner argument about how capably the writers handled the character development or plot structure. And yes, with the strange writers’ voice in your head. I’ve named mine Siri. I turn her on when I need to practice being outgoing.

@emma-flornouy I watched the movie first, but I’m reading the original book now. Books are always better. *grins wildly like a lunatic* Because I like it. Very much.
And in a way, I agree, Thrainduil was a jerk. But I also find him to be a very interesting character, (sorry, @anne-of-lothlorien) primarily because of how his backstory affects his…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien Hey, when you master defying gravity, wanna teach me? You never know when you might be stuck on a falling tower.
And Galadriel is choking at my very improper spelling of “do you want to”.
My studies actually take place in Lothlorien. Strange that we should not have met until now, but such is the way of the Elves, I suppose.…[Read more]

Oh, gee. Little kids are hard. I have a nine year old in my stories, and I’m constantly having to slow myself down to a much more basic view of life when I write her.
Like all human beings, you find such vast differences from one to the next, but they’re harder to write about, probably because their minds and thought processes aren’t as complex…[Read more]

@writefury Thanks! And yeah, the names a bit hard to swallow. I was going to name one of my characters it, but for some reason I kept mentally referring to myself as it, so it’s somehow become my unofficial name for everything.

I found the movie I’m Not Ashamed to be shockingly powerful. The theme of standing up for your faith even when you’re surrounded by people who will ridicule you and, basically, make life miserable, is something that I think most people struggle with, so it struck me very deeply just because I can relate to it, while also encouraging…[Read more] -

I find that first person works better if I want a deeper connection with my character and their emotions. Not being an overly emotional person myself, it forces me to be more in tune with what’s going on in their heads. Nevertheless, for some reason I almost always write in third person. Don’t ask me why.And you can call me…[Read more]

You’re right! They would probably classify it with the triceratops. 🙂

@the-bean That’s very interesting. So different from our system. It’s neat that you actually have Christian parties. Here, many Christians are Republican, but I don’t know if the Republican party itself is Christian.
