Bye!
Obviously what I would do is not to make everything more realistic (that would defeat the point of the humour). But what I would do is give more characterisation to the doctors and nurses so that it is clear they are meant to be taken as a joke (frankly speaking, I wasn’t laughing at those parts because I was…[Read more]

Wait, I did? When did this happen? Can I read it? 😛

Thanks! That was a nice article. I guess I can think of this scene as a… fireside chat scene. Without the fireside or the chat. 😀

I know the feeling. But, hey, at least you can afford to have a slower pace and lots of time for introspection given the genre you’re writing. 😀
Mine’s a comedy so I need things to be light, fast and with a constantly moving and changing web of jokes so that the humour doesn’t get old…Â 😓

Yes I suppose that makes sense. Thanks! (now I’m imagining my character doing cooking and it, uh, doesn’t feel too right).
The scene is written from my side character’s POV and my MC is not even there at all (they haven’t met yet) so the purpose of the scene is foreshadowing to introduce a character and an element that my MC will…[Read more]

You haven’t posted more of your western because of… scene structure?

I’m working on my WIP…
This is weird to ask but… does every scene necessarily need a goal/conflict/outcome or reaction/decision? Because the scene I’m working on does seem important (it introduces a side character, does some foreshadowing and drops some hints of important events that happen in the background) but it doesn’t seem…[Read more]

Haha it’s fine I completely understand! 👌 There’s no real rush since I’m also still not done with the second part.

😓
Btw have you taken a look at the chapters I’ve uploaded for my WIP? Cos I think it might be helpful if I got some comments before I proceed any further.

My WIP. I have *sigh* this compulsive need to edit what I’ve already written when I really should be moving on.

@seekjustice Katie would rather have to do everything spontaneously. It’s what she does anyway. 😉
@rochellaine Katie would rather cook for two hundred guests. Never mind that she can’t cook, or that her tiny kitchen would never have enough room for all that food, or that she would probably chose to make soothing ridiculously complicated. She…[Read more]

Oh a Les Mis retelling that’s interesting 😀 I might take a look at it one day when I actually have the time!
I’ve only ever read one Les Mis retelling before and that was, um, not really a retelling (Pratchett’s Night Watch). It featured a good Javert (an honourable cop) and a bad Valjean (a serial killer) who travelled back in…[Read more]

LOL 😛
What are you working on now? And (this is really embarrassing to ask since I feel like I should know this by now) can you tell me what your book is about? I see mentions of Justice and Chessy here and there and I know there are links to your drafts floating about but (sorry about this) I never really got around to reading it…[Read more]

Wow I prefer to wake in the mornings as well but not THAT early. Wish I could so so that I could be more productive 😛

I get the feeling. Imagining all those scenes in your head is so much easier than writing them, isn’t it? 😉
Oh dear, you sound like you have a lot going on your plate. 😦
I think I told you this before but I’m in Singapore. I am, I suspect, precisely 12 hours ahead of you.

It’s… plodding along. There’s a few exciting scenes coming up followed by a quiet but necessary lull period (hope that I can find the motivation to push through those) then more exciting scenes…
Ah studies I can sympathise with that. All the best for your exams 🙂
