SeekJustice replied to the topic Which one of your characters would you most likely be friends with and why? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 3 months ago
I would be good friends with most of my main characters I think, though the more like me they are, the less I would get along with them :/ Which may be slightly concerning.
However, I definitely would get along very well with the main character of my current novel though. He’s heavily based on my own brother (who may or may not be…[Read more]

Hello there! I’m Chelsea/SeekJustice, and I’m also twenty, so I guess we can be old together 😛
Ooh, Harry Potter! I only just started reading them (I’m finally up to the Half-Blood Prince) because my mum wouldn’t let me read them when I was younger since she was never a fan of how dark the last few books were (she was an adult when…[Read more]

Hello there! I’m Chelsea/SeekJustice, one of the writing interns on the site. I hope you’ve enjoyed your time here so far!
I see you like musicals? I also very much like musicals. Not to be basic or anything, but Les Miserables is definitely my favourite.
I love your list of books! During my early teens I was obsessed with Warr…[Read more]

In my current WIP? I can imagine being friends with at least two of my characters… possibly six of them. Maybe more. I can think of at least one I wouldn’t be friends with at all. Their personality does not mesh well with mine.
But two of them for sure. I could be best friends with at least one. 🙂

Joy started the topic Nadine Brandes in the forum Book Discussions 5 years, 3 months ago
Hello, thought I’d make a topic to discuss the many books of Nadine Brandes since I know there are a handful of people here who really enjoy her stuff. 😀 I’ve read Fawkes and Romanov so far and I really liked both of them.
The main reason I made this topic was so I could show you guys this song because it makes me think of Romanov every single…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What do you believe is one of the most important elements of a good story? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 3 months ago
For me it’s character and settings. The character bit is pretty obvious I think, I get invested in the characters and they’re the ones that make me really enjoy the story. But next to that, I really love settings and worlds! It’s an amazing feeling reading a book that really delves into the worldbuilding, whether that be fantasy,…[Read more]

I’m a bit late to the party, but I analysed three pieces altogether, randomly picked from my current WIP and my last WIP. For the two pieces from my current WIP, I got James Joyce (who I’ve never read) and Stephen King (who I’ve also never read, but I’ve seen enough snippets of his to say, yeah fair I guess). and then the snippet from the older…[Read more]

I liked the first book in the space trilogy. It had some pretty interesting worldbuilding. I didn’t read the other two. My older brother told me the third wasn’t good. I don’t know why I didn’t read the second. 😛
Yes, I just found Only the Brave, a musical about the British gliders preparing for the D-Day invasion, and the Fren…[Read more]

I haven’t heard of MaryLu Tyndall, but I just looked her up and her books sound fun. 🙂 Have you read any of Rafael Sabatini’s books or seen any of the old 30s swashbuckling movies?
I’m doing great. 🙂
Have you read any good books lately?

Life insurance rules and regulations. My dad’s a financial planner, and I’m doing some work with the family business.
I’ve been wanting to ask you, what are some of your favorite swashbuckling novels/movies? (I assume you like the genre since you’re writing about pirates…?) 😛

Studying, mostly. Maybe some outlining too. What about you?

@alia It’s setting the chapter/book up to dramatic and mysterious, so I think as long as you follow through on the promise very quickly, it’s all good!

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's the biggest mistake you made when you first started writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 4 months ago
First of all, I completely agree about MacGuffins. They’re not bad, after all, I would argue that LOTR is a reverse-MacGuffin-quest-thing, but they’re often lazy.
Secondly! My worst mistake? I don’t know exactly, but a lot of my early stories and novels suffered from far too many main characters and subplots connected to those…[Read more]
