@rae I’ll probably have Nazyra run into Nahim if you don’t mind 😉
NAZYRA
She was on the ground. Well closer to it than she had ever been in the last five years. Nazyra leaned as far out as she could from the window of the strange building she’d woken up in, trying her best not to panic. Where was she? The towering castle set in the circular city…[Read more]

I’ll just repost the one from before
@everyone
Sooo, I’m still a little fuzzy as to what is going on in the RP, but in case it does start up again, this is the character I’d add.
Nazyra
(If anyone on here knows Zyrin from the Character Castle, they’re from the same race)
Age: Around 19 by earth standards.
Description: Female. About average…[Read more]

Btw, should we have them all arrive in different places? I kind of prefer that to having them arrive at the exact same place.
Yeah that’s how I’ve usually done it in RPs, I think it makes sense for the characters to arrive at different spots and then find each other as the RP goes

Yeah, I’m more of a math person, but I have my fair share of science knowledge, though more in physics than chemistry. I do know a little bit about the different shell structures though, and how that leads to the different global behaviors of a substance. Never mind a good rant though.
I’m just thinking if there may be some way to think…[Read more]

This sounds pretty cool!
The issue I would say about using all 29 would be the same debate of how many digits there are in a number system. More digits means more compact information, but it also means more informational storage is needed (you need to remember it all).
29 different metals all with completely unique sets of powers, even…[Read more]

@jonas @anyone
What about this idea: Lillen is under siege. The characters will be given tasks that require them to move around the city doing various things. That way we can just kind of make things up for them to do on the fly and we don’t have to decide too much up front.
I like that idea, I think it’ll be good to have the characters occupied w…[Read more]

That’s a tough one. It’s hard because sometimes ideas seem to come naturally, but when you try to get knew ideas, that’s when they stop. I’ve faced similar struggles in the past. Like Omialia is a very well developed world, but when I try thinking of a story, all I can think of is uninspired tropes, whereas the worlds for Lucid Wraith and…[Read more]

So I just saw the other comments saying that the setting isn’t as big a deal. Personally I think setting is very important, but it also depends on who you are as the author, and what kind of story you want to write.

So this is a good thing to be aware of when writing your story. Your definitely right that you want to have your setting more tied into the plot. I like how Brandon Sanderson puts it: Character, setting, and conflict are the three pieces, and the plot is the glue that keeps them together in a story.
You care about your characters,…[Read more]

Patricia MacLachlan was a children’s author, yes. But I still find her books interesting. Her most well known, “Sarah, Plain and Tall,” would be about the thickness of a thin beginner’s novel, if that gives you any idea. I’m not sure how to classify her genre. You can read a sample of “Sarah, Plain and Tall” on Amazon to give you an i…

I think I lean more toward hard world building. While I have written some projects for fun where literally anything can happen, I love thought-out structure and processes in books (especially when it takes something from reality and kinda twists it).
Cool! Yeah, I’m definitely a hard worldbuilder. I definitely appreciate soft…[Read more]
