Yeah, the forbidden love type is a cliche for a reason! It feels a lot more romantic than other relationships.
And you’re right about it being relatable to a lot of people. Rarely can you stay with everyone you dearly love. Seeing it happen in stories makes you connect to the characters more.

Just a quick question: Is there a way for us to delete our own topics we’ve started?

This week’s Forum Topic is…
What is a story cliche that you enjoy?
Most of the time when it comes to cliches in stories we usually roll our eyes. But is there a cliche that you actually enjoy? Why do you enjoy it?
One of the cliches that I like, is the incompetent hero trope.
The main reason being that it makes the protagonist more…[Read more]

Ah, yes, mostly because they’re actual realistically relatable. 🙂 (I love tLotR as well, btw.)
Fav book by her? That’s tough. Probably the best two Scarlet Pimpernel books, The Scarlet Pimpernel and El Dorado. But they’re all so good…love Unto Caesar and The Hundred Days as well, among the rest. You? Or have you read any?

Never knew that about the original Beauty and the Beast! I love these little random facts about fairy tales. 😀
Some of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings, The Lighting Thief, The Hunger Games, and Why Is This Night Different From All Other Nights?
What are some of yours?
Haha, don’t worry about going off topic, I love a…[Read more]

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely be checking them out.
I haven’t actually read any of the original fairy tale stories before, but my favorite Disney fairy tale would probably be Beauty and the Beast.
Not only is it a lot more interesting story wise to a lot of other Disney Princess movies, but the message is a lot…[Read more]

Story and character arcs in general, really. Chauvelin is such a malevolent, evil guy, but seems so sacrificial and kind on the surface. And he’s definitely gone down the wrong road, to get there. But he’s believable, realistic in the era and story, etc, which is rare for me and super awesome! That’s neat that you want to read it- I…[Read more]

Ah yes, the difference between interesting movies verses movies that are interesting to watch.
If your watching with some good friends it can be really fun to just laugh at movies. Especially cheesy ones with bad acting.

I never hear the original version of The Little Mermaid! It’s so much more interesting and has much better message than the Disney version.
Though I get why Disney changed it. As much as I love stories where the main character sacrifices their life for someone or something they love, unfortunately I don’t think a Disney Princess movie…[Read more]

The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of the books on my “to read” list!
Is there a specific thing that you like in a villain/antagonist most that makes them your favorite?
