So,this is for songs that you’ve written, and when you want to put the words.
Here’s some lyrics to a song I just wrote. Unfortunately, you can’t hear me sing it, which is too bad, because I flatter myself I do it well, but here’s the words. This is the first one I’ve done, so it might sound weird to you. And don’t read it like a poem, cause then…[Read more] -

No, I’m not talking to you. I’m talking about little children. I have a lot of trouble writing little kids. The youngest I’ve ever written extensively about is an 11 year old. That may seem weird cause I have four younger siblings age 11 to 2, but it’s hard!
So, if you guys have any advice, information, how you write little people, their thought…[Read more] -

You know you’re a writer when you’re so distracted planning a plot twist that you unwrap a Starburst, put the candy in the trash and the wrapper in your mouth. Then you spit it out and make a disgusted face, then morph into making faces that your MC could make when he’s poisoned.
You know you’re a easily distracted writer when you start out…[Read more]

I think War Room would have to be my favourite Christian good theme movie. The power of prayer is amazing and I think War Room portrays it very well.
As for my other movie…I’ll have to think. Okay, so I stopped typing and thought and looked in our movie drawer. I think Frozen is fair close to top. The fact that a kiss wasn’t the…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien I love The Princess Bride, How to Train Your Dragon, and Beyond the Mask (I actually have a good friend who worked on costumes for Behind the Mask– she was an extra in the ball scene, where Will and Charlotte are dancing together– next time you watch it, watch for a lady with a model ship in her wig, and that’s my friend,…[Read more]

One of my absolute favorite movies, guys, is Rigoletto. It’s kinda old-ish so most of you probably haven’t even heard of it, but it is SO GOOD. The theme is tremendously well done— ‘an ugly heart is worse than an ugly face,’ and ‘Ignorance is the ugliest prejudice of all.’
And it’s completely a family film— we all watch it, down to the…[Read more]

@Mark-Kamibaya
I found the movie I’m Not Ashamed to be shockingly powerful. The theme of standing up for your faith even when you’re surrounded by people who will ridicule you and, basically, make life miserable, is something that I think most people struggle with, so it struck me very deeply just because I can relate to it, while also encouraging…[Read more] -

@Mark-Kamibaya Good to know we won’t be killed for listing books. 😉 Why is it harder to find books than movies? Because of where you live?
A Tale of Two Cities for the theme of sacrifice and true, Christ-like love. Book and movie. Seriously, that one is so. awesome. I cried my heart out because of it, but it was so well pulled off. Do you know…[Read more]

@Anne-of-Lothlorien But Kili died in the book too, so he should have in the movie!! In the book he and Fili died together though, defending Thorin. I so wish it had been that way in the movie. Have you read the book?
Yeah, the alternated “Misty Mountains” one is neat.@Mark-Kamibaya *abruptly ceases the nodding* 😀 I don’t want to lose my head.

@Mark-Kamibaya – Hee. Hee. I realized that once. I ‘went off in sobs of anguish’ over @writefury‘s serial story once (seriously read that) and realized that I never technically said I stopped, so I’ve been weeping for weeks. Which i almost have. Her story’s a real heart-wrencher.

@Mark-Kamibaya – So, I came on here and was scrolling down the list and saw movies that I’ve seen but I never thought others would. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers to name one. Some of my favorites are

– Beyond the Mask
– How To Train Your Dragon 2

@dragon-snapper – Yes along with all my metal thingys in my pockets I usually have paper and a pen and pencil. I don’t carry notebooks in my pocket because they get bent. I suppose it would be helpful to a degree. I think the disadvantages would outweigh those however. For one, a person may be super helpful with ten subjects, but not with five and so they would get tagged for stuff they don’t know much about. Also, people would use it too often. Especially considering that the most…[Read more]

Ignore my spelling errors. 🙁 I’m terrible at checking my own writing.
*puts on thinking cap* Hrmmm… well, the first game that comes to mind is Blindman’s Bluff. Then there’s a similar but less ‘dangerous’ game that doesn’t have a name, where ‘It’ stands blindfolded in the middle of the room and one player at a time tries to sneak past (and around) him without getting touched.
And honestly I have zero head for…[Read more]
Thanks for the other game suggestions. Yes, I’ve played that once before and it was lots of fun. @kate-flournoy
Do you mean the theme would be spiritual blindness, and you’d just play physically ‘blind’ games, or would the theme be physical blindness (probably not, but I want to make sure I get what you’re saying. 😉 )?
And ditto to what Kate said about fundraising…sorry. 😛 Have some sort of craft sale, maybe? *helpless shrug*
No @emma-flournoy The theme is about physical blindness as that is what the fundraiser would be for. Helping raise money for tablets that stop River Blindness.
@bluejay, so sorry, no ideas at the moment, but I’ll let you know if I think of something. 🙂
@clairec No worries. Please do. 🙂
Okay. That sounds good. 🙂 What’s River Blindness?
@emma-flournoy River Blindness is cause by black flies that live down near the river. So people go do to get water and…how much information would you like??? It’s pretty graphic.
Ooh… all right, that’s good.
😛
I hope your fundraiser goes well if you do it.
Hmmm…. that’s a great thing to raise funds for, @bluejay! Who will you be giving the money to? (i.e. Compassion, Samaritan’s Purse, a missionary at your church, etc.) Well, the only games I can think of that haven’t already been suggested would be searching through something like rice, blindfolded, to find a small object, like a marble, pebble,…[Read more]
@julia-r The funds will be going to CBM.
Hey, I like that game. You say you’ve done similar games before, can you tell me how much rice would you put in the dish (how big is the dish) and are they allowed to use their hands?
I would get a really big storage container (like utility bins) and fill it with as much rice as you can. Rice is cheap, so it shouldn’t be a cost issue. And yes, you can use your hands! It’s fun to rely only on touch to find things.
Another similar suggestion (this might appeal more to younger folks) is to put the pieces of a 6-piece puzzle in the…[Read more]
@bluejay Would it be indoors or outdoors? I know two games that raise money, but they don’t have a thing to do with blindness. You know the type of game where you try to throw a small object either into a basket or through a small hole in a board or to knock something down? You could charge 25 or 50 cents per toss. The other game is quite a bit…[Read more]
@sarah-h It would be indoors. Thank you SO much for all the wonderful ideas. I have decided not to run the fundraiser so a bit because I am so busy with prier commitments. But the ideas are wonderful and will be in a file for future reference.
