Oh fun!
We should be able to, if we are not at our grandparents’ house in the serviceless country.

Ugh, y’all. I was listening to an audiobook version of The Guardian by Dee Henderson, and the reader’s voice got stuck in my head. Now whenever I read anything–and I mean literally anything–I hear it in this low, slightly gravely, male voice. Even my thoughts are getting half drawled.
The book was good. The reader I wish I could live without.

ALSO SHOOT! I ACCIDENTALLY SKIPPED Koshka’s REPLY!!!!!!!!! SORRY! I WILL GET TO IT AFTERWARD!
You’re fine. XD I’m obviously not excessively active on KP right now (Ellette and Whalekeeper are currently conducting my funeral, LOL).
KP’s also been giving me fits, so I’m giving you a heads up that I may be a while checking back h…[Read more]

We think one might fit: Captain Fry. He’s stocky and grumpy, but eloquent when nobody expects it. And he’s suspicious of the Longtreaders at first, which could translate into Gimli’s aversion of elves. His undying loyalty to them once that’s overcome fits well too!
Unfortunately, everyone in my family has a different mental image of…[Read more]

Koshka replied to the topic Is there any popular trope or writing style you don’t get the hype for? in the forum Topic of the Week 1 year ago
Ugh. If any of y’all decide to write a “good twin/evil twin” trope (and I don’t care if it is well done or not at this pount) you will be getting a letter from me. I’ve been asked that stupid question a few too many times, as well as it’s frustrating cousin “who’s the mean/nice one?”. If one of y’all pick it up, prepare for Koshka to be severely…[Read more]

Can’t say I loved the Anne of the Island triangle, but I definitely liked it better than what I see in modern stuff.
Evangelistic dating is dating/becoming romantically attached to a lost person with the hope that the relationship will lead them to God. Obviously, not a good udea to go into a relationship like that. It’s not h…[Read more]

Yeah, that might help. And it might not. I personally haven’t gotten tags in months, but I often hop on when I have a free moment and
lurkpatrol around. It’s been a very chatty place recently. As evidenced by the fact that newer KeePers are bumbling about in the guise of Eccentric Mentors and Chosen Ones.

Fabulous! That helps a lot. Thank you for imparting your wisdom. 🙂
I’ll probably look into getting it later this month.

Bwahaha! XD You did a great job capturing his personality in the aesthetic.
I saw the shofar/horn and satchel with scrolls and wondered if he served as a messenger, a fitting occupation for a wanderer. On a flip side, if the scrolls were scripture, I thought he might be connected to your world’s True Religion. Maybe friends with a…[Read more]

R.M. Archer replied to the topic How do you world build? in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year ago
I love to discuss worldbuilding! How I approach the worldbuilding process depends on the world. I have three main worlds I revisit, so I have three main processes, which I laid out in a blog post a few years ago.
There are certain factors that overlap among all of my worlds:
- I always have some core framework in mind–whether that’s a timeline…

I don’t know the answers to all of these questions simply because my experience doesn’t cover all of them, but I can say:
2. Yes. I actually keep my Scrivener files on an external drive so that I can easily switch between my desktop and laptop (both Windows computers), so I don’t need to move said files, but prior to that I did keep copies on…[Read more]

@elishavet-pidyon Thank you! I’m glad they were both helpful to you!
Aw, thanks! It’s good to be around! I can’t keep up much (it might help a little if I changed my KP email address so I get notifications to an email I check more regularly… though that wouldn’t help with the obstacle of busyness, lol), but I try to pop in when I have time and…[Read more]

Oh, that’s a great article! Thank you for sharing. It gave me several ideas. (As did your article on false religions, which I read right after that one.)
Also, it’s so good to see you around here again!

Well, everyone made theirs much less complicated than what I was thinking, so I’m glad I waited. lol. I think I basically agree with what the others have said. I do like a first person narrative, if it’s well done and really used to contribute to the texture of the story.
I also think that not every style that’s technically “wordy”…[Read more]

We’ll see if KP lets me post the link or not, but I actually have a blog post all about how to approach the creation of allegorical/pseudo-allegorical religions!
