I’ve noticed this too, and it is a little disturbing. It’s not that we shouldn’t address abuse etc. in our writing – we should – but we need to be careful about what we portray as normal. The words we write are powerful.

Your friends might be on to something. The words choices and flow of the poem has such an enthralling, I don’t know… texture to it?

Something about the poem feels so alive and playful. I really like it. Especially the last three lines. They are perfection.
