@morgan Hi and welcome to the Kingdom of Pen! We’re so glad to have you here!
Fantasy is awesome. I write quite a bit myself. Do you have a story that you’re currently on?
Any movies or music that you particularly enjoy?
What other hobbies do you have besides writing?
And finally, do you think pineapples belong on pizza?
Lovely to have you…[Read more]

@kathleenramm *spent hours trying to decide which WIP*
All right, three out of the four main characters of my current work:
1. Kenneth Ouyang, the quiet (former?) student teacher (is he a student or a teacher? who knows) known for always wearing a white baseball cap. The leader of the operation. Trying to balance questing with taking care of his…[Read more]

@milena The Lord of the Rings is such a good trilogy! I haven’t watched the others yet, but I’ll make a note of them!
The Great Gatsby was very good! I haven’t read the others, but I’ve been meaning to read The Girl on the Train. Coming of age books are very good, I agree.
Absolute mood. I also adore music. And I have listened to The…[Read more]

Katherine replied to the topic How to make your plot more exciting? in the forum Plotting 4 years, 11 months ago
@joy-caroline I just remember that my previous WIP had a boring plotline as well! Honestly, I’m not sure what I did to make it more interesting though!!😂 My MC kinda took control and then changed EVERYTHING I had planned before the plotline became interesting. So, yeah, I hope you’ll work it all out for your story!!!!!!! 😀 <33

@joy-caroline Something like this has happened to me. I was working on my current novel several weeks ago and found myself bored with it. So, I decided to skip the boring scenes and write a more interesting one. Though I’m not sure that helps with your situation. On the other hand, I not all that great with plot anyway (at least, I don’t think I…[Read more]

Oooh, new story!!!
Oh, yeah, this happens allllll the time. And when it happens for me, it’s pretty awful, ’cause I get bored REALLY EASILY in stories.
which may or may not explain why I was insane enough to have a fight scene on PAGE SEVEN in one of my novels *sheepish grin*Well, this is the best advice I’ve EVER heard when it…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Murder someone.
Well, or badly injure someone. Is what I do. I’m assuming, however, that your story isn’t of the suitable genre. But yeah, what Jenna said. Keep writing by looking forward to whatever’s coming. Or maybe spice things up by doing something unexpected. Or develop who you thought was gonna be a minor character. Whatever…[Read more]

Ooof, sorry it took me forever to get here. I’ve just not had the time to be very active on KP liked I’d wish. :,(
Anyway, the biggest thing is seriously DON’T COMPARE. I always get soooo down on me and my writing whenever I start comparing my sloppy, first draft to my favorite novels ever. But then I have to remember that you know…[Read more]

Ah, I used to write a ton of poetry! I’m looking forward to seeing whatever you share!
Short stories are fun! And I totally relate to finding inspiration everywhere. What are some of your favorite movies/books/songs?

@nanisnook Ah, sorry to hear you’re feeling like this! I guess here are my tips:
- Read terrible writing
- Daydream about your writing dreams
- Receive validation
- Start something new
- Take a break
Hope these help!

Girl, you are not the only one! I get discouraged over my writing all. the. time. It’s sooo much easier to feel bad about our writing more than it is to feel good about it. But God doesn’t want us to feel discouraged over our writing – something He has given you the interest and passion for. You can ask God to help you view your writing…[Read more] -

Lin replied to the topic What mythological creature would you like as a writing partner? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 11 months ago
@kathleenramm Mm, I’ve always loved dragons. But after much consideration I’ve realised that a dragon would burn my papers to a crisp. Which is why I’m going for an eastern dragon. They can’t breathe fire (most, at least), they’re super duper cool, they can fly and take me places, they can fly up to the celestial heavens and talk with the…[Read more]

A sphinx. For all the same reasons. Plus, they speak in riddles, which would exercise my brain on a routine basis and potentially help me come up with more creative phrases to replace cliches because I could practice giving unexpected but accurate answers to said riddles. Plus, sphinxes are underappreciated and I like…[Read more]
