@gracie-j Ahhhh, straight to the point of theology that most people don’t like me for. XD I firmly believe in predestination and I can debate it all day. Which is part of why it’s now a more-or-less off-limits topic in another of my Christian writing groups, because a small handful of us kept having the same debate over and over and everyone got…[Read more]

That’s an AWESOME idea!! Love it! Just curious, why are there two Jerusha’s? 😄 (like, is there a specific reason for that?) Go for it!!

*waves* I don’t know how much of this will be useful, but… I’m Reformed Baptist (at least I grew up Baptist; I understand both Baptist and Presbyterian views on baptism, so as far as that goes I’m not sure which label is technically more accurate at this point, lol). “Reformed” means I believe in the Doctrines of Grace and Five Solas, which form…[Read more]

@iamwritehere1920 The third draft. I’m considering the story pretty much complete at this point. 🙂

@abigail-m It depends on what stage you’re at. While I was working on my second draft, I had two author friends I trust read it as I went and give feedback, so they got it in more-or-less one-chapter chunks.
This next round I’m doing is specifically sensitivity readers so I can get feedback on the chronic illness representation and make sure I…[Read more]

@gracie-j It’s a sci-fi/post-apocalyptic story about an… inventor? Engineer? Something along those lines. XD Who lives in a hangar in the middle of a wasteland and has just genetically engineered a dragon that will one day open a portal to an alternate dimension where the world can rebuild. Except… things happen, of course. XD

@abigail-m Ooh, very cool! Just be careful not to rush into publishing; I speak from experience, lol. But that’s an awesome goal! 🙂
Thank you! I’m very excited to get it finished and published. XD I’ll be sending it to a small group of readers in March, so I’m looking forward to getting some more outside feedback! I’ve been editing on my own and…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Thank you! The blurb is this:
Dragon ink allows writers to set history in stone—or to change it.
Duyên Lai’s dreams are realized when she’s admitted into the ranks of the calligraphers, authors considered trustworthy enough to defend time from those who would change it. She’s thrilled at the opportunity to record her country’…

@e-k-seaver Happy to help. 🙂
I chose it largely for the freedom it provides. In the beginning, especially freedom as far as a release timeline goes. I didn’t have to wait to hook an agent, which was important to me then as a young author wanting to get started and is important to me now as an author who wants to share my work without having to…[Read more]

@e-k-seaver First of all, yay! Self-publishing is awesome. XD (So is traditional publishing, I just personally think self-publishing is more fun.)
Second… I feel like I need more specifics as to what info you’re looking for. I love answering questions about self-publishing, but there’s a lot to cover. If you want a place to start, though, I can…[Read more]

The main thing is to have completely finished all of the edits on my novel Calligraphy Guild and be able to focus entirely on marketing it for several months before publishing it in the summer of next year.
I also would kind of like to publish at least one short story collection set in the same world, because I love this world and I need to get…[Read more]

@gracie-j Congratulations! That’s awesome! 😀
I’ve taken this week off from CG, but in the meantime I revised a short story so I can work with an illustrator on it! It’s nothing super fancy, I’ll just be working with the daughter of one of my mom’s friends, but I think it’ll be a lot of fun and a cool learning experience! And the short story is…[Read more]

@william-starkey Something on how you build languages and how they reflect the cultures they’re attached to would be awesome, if you have the time. 🙂
(BTW, totally random question but some of the books you’ve added on Goodreads made me curious: Are you Calvinist?)

If you have to… 😞
Definitely Seia. 😆
Who’s most likely to become a mad scientist (if they lived in our world)?
mmm, Murin.

Aww, no, don’t kill Myka!! 😢 I love her already!! 😉
Probably Iantumara, because she can manipulate time, so she would believe in time travel, too.
Who’s most likely to run a lemonade stand in their neighborhood?
Ha, none of my characters!! If I had to choose one, it would be Murin, probably from a dare or to get…[Read more]

Seia, definitely. And Murin.
Who’s most likely to be the most popular person out of all your characters? Â
Probably Murin or Iantumara for the girls, and Matias for the boys.
