I’d say that it definitely depends upon the theme you’re trying to convey and the story itself. If the theme is more personal to the MC or POV character, then I’d go for first person. I agree the nonstereo typical characters are always more lovable, I’ve got a few and I try to make every character have at least one non stereotypical trait.

I think I do want it to affect his expressions, but not much. For instance, his smile may be slightly higher and less stiff on the unaffected side, making his grin a touch lopsided. The brand itself is roughly 1 1/2″ -2″ long and 1″ wide. I do think it would follow his cheekbone.
