Remember the dance. Steel met steel. Blades in parley. Feet flit over sand. Sweat began to bead and trickle in the morning sun.
The dance of a swordsman.
Every step reflected years of focus. Each attack and defense discipline and training. Years upon years of his life had been–and were yet to be–dedicated to the mastery of this weapon.
And it all felt like so many strings on a wooden puppet.
Ari staggered as his instructor landed another rattling blow to his shield. This wasn’t the time for a wandering mind. He needed the sword, needed the skill of his father’s hand.
He needed a blade sharp enough to cut those strings. Ari’s grip tightened as he stepped back into the dance.

Right now Ari is working out irritation in the form of much needed violent therapy. Moth can take his time making friends who are actually…friendly…

This Bryce fellow sounds interesting. Go ahead and throw him in somewhere and we’ll see who’s available/in his way to interact with. Most everyone is at the school gymnasium for morning exercise (or croquet [or conniving]) so that’s where I’d head.
My character, Ari, is currently training with a fighting instructor inside the Gymnasium (he’s rather unfriendly though, so I don’t know that Bryce wants to meet him first). Lucian, Ellis, and Moth are inside as well (I think?) fencing while Lucian watches and exists as his introvert self. Remington, Jasper, Wilhelm, and Wolfgang are in the gym courtyard (where outdoor stuff like jousting and pell sword practice goes on) in the middle of a… discussion.

You know, looking at their respective charts, Lucian and Ari might actually get along pretty well if standing at the edge of the same room and watching people can be termed getting along. That or they’d quietly distrust each other. XD
Also, your drawings of Lucian and Ellis are adorable.

Jasper hadn’t drawn Remington far enough away for an Eldar’s ears to not mark their exchange. Not that he’d understood more than a phrase at a time.
Not that he listened.
Of course, if Remington’s hushed exchange had been inexcusably loud, the blond embodiment of impertenance from breakfast ought to have taken up work as a harrald. Ari let his eyes slide closed. Perhaps that would dull his other senses.
Still, the way Jasper always acted as if he was the director of a great pantomime, his every whim acted out on a stage of his creation…it was exhausting.
Yes, don’t bother with the Verenion. He never was good at following directions.
A throat cleared beside him. Ari glanced up, then slightly down to find the steady brown face of the combat instructor. Oh, the school had several. Sir Drimel was the only one that Ari cared to listen to.
Probably because the man only spoke when necessary. And because the man still had an edge on him in skill. Probably.
Ari raised a brow. The man nodded once, then turned to walk towards the sparing mats. Without so much as a last glare at the ostentatious prince behind him, Ari followed his instructor.

He watched Jasper search methodically through the yard. The prince might be a royal pain, but he wasn’t a complete idiot. Ari closed his eyes.
“He’ll find who he’s looking for,” his voice was just barely loud enough for the purple huddle in the bush behind him to hear. “If he stays where he is. But then, not sure where LaCeux would go. The Gymnasium is full of Jasper’s goons.”

And Ari does view the world through old eyes, especially at a school where most of the students are younger than himself when he’s used to those around him being much much older.

Yes, he means emotionally…although he also means by age a little bit too since he’s used to a different age scale. But he also doesn’t think of that as a bad thing.
I’m fact, he’s more likely to put up with/like Remington simply because he sees him as younger.

“LeCeux?” He let the irritation of the morning melt into cold amusement. “You mean the befloured child king with a obvious preference for fine clothes?”
He watched the sparks flicker in Jasper’s eyes, another Prince with too obvious infatuation with finery though of a different sort. Remington certainly hadn’t been in the midst of a bird-bush encounter for enjoyment.
“I believe he is getting together a game of croquet. He might even let you join, though he is a child.”

“Been some time since I last saw you, Juniper. Our last discussion was most… cathartic.”
He tilted his head enough to let his unerving gaze follow the prince into the courtyard.
